It’s always bothered me that you need England and the whole Mesopotamia to form Rome, but you don’t even need to conquer the Mediterranean coast of Africa, or all of Egypt. It’s weird they require the conquest of territories that the Romans only held for a brief period, but some core lands just aren’t necessary.

For why the Bulgaria strat failed the first time, if you don't take Tolcu (Northeastern most province in the balkans), the Ottomans often land there and then get Military access through Wallachia.

As byzantium, you should have a mission/event to restore roman empire without having to conquer france/england/spain and mesopothamia, and then get claims on those regions. It would add lots of flavour

On my last Byzantine to Roman empire game, while i was fighting the ottomans, and focusing on securing diplomatic relations for after the war, Venice, Naxos, and the Knights got into a war with Milan, Austria, Ferarra, Florence, and Aragon-Naples. Venice declared war because Milan Insulted Venice and was Excommunicated. The war led to them getting enough war exhaustion and unrest that Byzantine Separatists rose up in Naxos, Rhodes, and Corfu, and Venice's army so weak that they couldn't stop them. so i ultimately got Corfu, Negroponte, Naxos, Crete, and Rhodes for free, and i did the Bulgaria strat too

It isn't a Restoration as the Byzantines. It's a Reclamation. You ARE Rome, and it's time the rest of the world knew it.

Also, this took me like 4 years of on-and-off attempts to accomplish this, but IT WAS WORTH IT!

also, a fun thing to look forward to is the mission (i believe restore the pentarchy) which triggers an event that disables the papal interactions for all nations

Look what you’ve done. Now I gotta play as the BYZ and take Rome and fight some atrocious coalitions because I’m not patient enough to not make them grow out of control. Think about what you’ve done.

I got the Baselius achievement, and, to me, it was SUPER difficult. My smooth brain had a hard time destroying the Ottomans consistantly, so a lot of runs ended in disaster.

Reminds me of one byzantium run where I was struggling - then got a PU over Muscovy and a century later, got a PU over England. Easiest Roman Empire restoration ever

It's always fun to watch someone restoring Rome as pretty much anything

I like CK3 siege mechanics a bit more. There is still variance, but seems a lot easier to know when a siege will end and less feeling like “poor luck, guess I am stuck here for a decade”

Really intereseted to see how this pans out. Especially how you will deal with Coalitions forming.

Just recently finished my Byzantium > Roman Empire World Conquer/One Faith game on ironman. Took months to complete but we got there in the end. First ever world conquest on ironman which was incredible.
