My trip to Syria was one of the most eye-opening journeys I've ever made. It was tough to reconcile my awareness of the recent tragic conflict in the country, with the beauty and positivity I experienced there... But certainly, the people of Damascus MADE my visit. Thank you to everyone who welcomed me there with open arms.

Please note: this vlog documents my personal trip to Syria, as a tourist. It is not necessarily a travel recommendation, nor a commentary on the political climate, nor an attempt to show the ordinary life of Syrian citizens.

Thank you for watching! If you liked this vlog, come follow me on Instagram for daily updates from destinations that most other tourists don't go to:

I'm crying because despite the fact that the economy in Syria is still recovering, the bread maker and the ice cream shop owner didn't let you pay. Thank you so much for letting us come along this journey.

As a Syrian, I would like to thank you for soo many things. First of all thank you for using the term crisis instead of civil war. 2nd thank for your courage that lead you to take a trip like this one and see the beauty of Damascus for your own eyes, despite all the trouble surrounding it. Damascus only reflects the beauty of its visitors, if you can see and appreciate its beauty, then you are a beautiful person yourself, thats what I believe. Thank you for appreciating those simple gifts, it shows what a kind hearted person you are. Finally as a hardcore party animal, I’m a bit sad you didn’t show night life in damascus :p. It too has a tase of its own. Also, rest assured you are always welcome, you have got yourself another home. Greetings

I lived in Damascus as an Iraqi refugee from 2006 to 2008, I was 9 - 12 years old and that was basically the happiest time of my life

I was born in Damascus, , My family immigrated to the USA in 1986, , I was 16 years old then. so I've been living in The US since 86 ( 34 Years ) and let me tell you, if I could push a button right now that would take me back to the moment I boarded the plane to come here I would step right off of that plane and Stay in Syria. I was too young to realize that I was born in one of the Greatest countries in the world. I miss you Syria <3

Everytime I visit my Grandparents, I look at all their photoalbums. Around 4 years ago, I found their Album of their visit in Syria in the 70s. They had endless stories of the love and warmth from strangers and about the beauty in Damascus. It was the first time seeing a different picture than just war. I came to tears thinking how this magical place is mostly destroyed. Around that same time I have made a friend from Syria who fleed to Germany. One of the smartest, open minded and self-reflected persons I have ever met. Shortly after my mom rented a room to someone from Syria, who became a very close family friend. This video brought me to tears and gave me hope. May there come peace to you beautiful people. I dream of visiting Syria one day.

As an American, I lived and worked in Damascus for 2.5 years in 2004-2007; the generosity of the Syrians is unsurpassed. How I miss it!

Wow 😱 Your passion for travelling these uncommon places is so inspiring. It is beyond amazing to see you throwing out all the bullshit that western media portrays and showing the truth and real beauty of these countries. As an Australian 🇦🇺 we are told on the news that Syria is a dangerous place that is continually in war but thankfully you are showing the reality of the situation. Keep travelling, keep inspiring and keep chasing your dreams ❤️
