Singapore Noisy Koel Bird

a Koel bird which can be heard everywhere in Singapore. It is my new alarm clock and I begin to like it more and more

I’m from Malaysia, whenever early morning school started and you hear this bird you know you’re late. Usually these birds sound at 7.40 pm they bring so much nostalgia no matter how old/young you are.

this particular bird call that feels nostalgic whenever I listen to it. It reminds me of waking up at 530am and riding my bicycle to primary school dead in the morning before sunrise daily. Seeing nobody in the streets, no cars passing by, and only just the bird calls to remind me not to be afraid because the sun is coming. Sometimes I cry while cycling my bicycle right after I say goodbye to my mom because I'm afraid of the scoldings I will get by my teachers throughout the day.. And sometimes I'm lucky that the moment I reached the school the lights are all off and I'm told to go back home because it's the end of year exam paper marking week.

I recently visited my brother in Singapore. We are Europeans. This bird has one of the best sounding cries I have heard so far. Had to look up which bird makes the sound. Thank you for this great recording. 😌

I am 35 now born in 1982 when i was primary i never heard of this bird singing till i was 18 years old in the year of 2000 when this bird built up its population islandwide till today it is a lanjiao bird i hate it when it wake me up at 4.30am but it can be fun if you use its sound to annoy the people you dont like set it as an alarm clock or ringtones from the playstore now i love to piss people off with this lanjiao bird
