According to Epicurus, for example, “Vain is the word of a philosopher which does not heal any suffering of man. For just as there is no profit in medicine if it does not expel the diseases of the body, so there is no profit in philosophy either, if it does not expel the suffering of the mind.”

I really appreciate so many of the sentiments covered here. They're so elegant and timeless in their simplicity. It matters not what we say or what we write as words are cheap. Doubly so these days. What matters is who we are, as the content of our characters is the only thing we ought to judge in ourselves or others. Everything else is meaningless in this context, generally speaking, IMHO.

The character we demonstrate and the way we treat those around us matters most of all, at least I like to think so anyway. Thanks for sharing this thought provoking content.

i love this video. Though, I literally do not believe that Epictetus merely smiled when his leg was broken. The story makes it's point, but I believe it's just romanticizing what really happened.
