This beginner tutorial will show you how to pan left right using the panning in FL Studio. It will also show you how to use stereo separation in FL Studio, as well as making sounds mono in FL Studio. The mixer in FL Studio is where you mix all your sounds together. Panning, stereo, and mono are very important when it comes to mixing and mastering. By spreading out your sounds you can make your mix sound wider and more pleasant to listen to. Some sounds work better when they are wider, while others work better when they are more mono, like the low-end for example. Some sounds such as kick and bass should always be mono, while leads and such can often be wider. By panning some sounds right and other sounds right, you can make more room in your mix, and your song will sound more professional and cleaner. Besides EQ, Panning is one of the first things you should try if you have mud in your mix.
This FL Studio beginner tutorial will quickly show you how to use stereo separation too, and explain the difference between mono and stereo.
I have another FL Studio tutorial that is more in-depth with regard to mono, stereo, and panning, this video will just quickly explain how to use panning, stereo, and mono in FL Studio 20. Check out my more advanced videos about mono, stereo, panning, etc in the links below.

This was really helpful. I was looking for Mono/Stero Sep. on my mixer and realized I needed to change the view. Thanks for making this!

I record stereo guitars, using two different speakers. One left and one right.

Stereo separation become relative when panning, because if it’s on center it will pan both left and right in that direction.

If fully separated, the pan functions as a traditional balance knob. I typically don’t want a mix of those speakers so they must be fully separated.

That’s what stereo separation is doing, it’s removing any combination of left and right channels. Triangular panning law comes into play.

A good way to experiment is to create a stereo file with two different sounds, one left and one right. Using the panning knob with this stereo file is going to push everything left or right.

But that’s not what people typically want. They want to focus on one sound or the other, so they must use stereo separation. This way they will hear one or the other sound when panning.

Thanks for your very clear and concise explanation. I am new to FL studio - I know that most DAWs don't do proper stereo pair panning. For example in studio one there is a dual planner plugin which allows you to pan the left and right separately. Whilst I can see how the separation knob helps how do you pan left and right separately in FL studio?

Hey! So after using FL Studio for a short while, I feel like I am able to structure a songs melody, chords, bassline etc. The thing I'm really struggling with is choosing the right instruments/plugins when it comes to more Synthy instruments. It makes me feel really stuck and would love for some advice about this. 😅
