Excellent video, as always! Lazy P's advice is tough love for some, pulling no punches. Your advice for a beginners mindset in 08:15 is spot on! I worked for a large Investment bank implementing a front 2 back system. The subledger caused issues because the controllers insisted on accrual accounting to monitor trades (from their legacy spreadsheets). But the desk traded every instrument imaginable (as ring fenced schemes) which had to be MTM. Big4 consultancies said it was an impossible pjt. I created a negative Dr/Cr. I.e. +5 -5 +100 = 100, the right end result. When IT said systems didn't work that way, I said I'm writing the rules (I am a qualified accountant BTW!). Once the vendor allowed -ve numbers, I built the rules to accommodate both. I just needed 3 tabs. Tab1 had positive accruals. Tab2 contained the exact opposite -ve amounts. Tab3 contained the MTM. As all accounting entries had to flow through to the main GL, by filtering on Tab1, controllers got their numbers. Tab2 was a sense check...exact reverse numbers. Tab3 gave the MTM numbers which was what was reported. The head of Ops was convinced because I built 3way recs...I.e. she would only receive EoD files if Tab1+2+3=3.any errors had to be solved upstream. Only by creating a naiive (beginner error) mistake were we able to solve the problem! The system went live. It was for the biggest profit centre on the bank. They only shut it down for political reasons, not because of inherent errors (there were none!). Follow LazyP...he knows what he's talking about!

I am interested how GPT4 works? Is this a company secret? Ok, you say it is a LLM but what makes it different? Do I need to learn NLP to understand LLMs or can I start right after ANNs. What is the roadmap to this knowledge?

The fact that a language model can do tasks related to language and text should not be surprising. It might even show some knowledge since language is a carrier for knowledge. All languages have knowledge embedded into them. However, that is not the primary role of a language model. The primary role is to be able to produce any text in the language, stories, reveries, scientific, and scifi, ....

what would you say is the current best use case for current ai in your opinion? For me it serves as a productivity booster at the cost of increase ignorance as stated in the video. We’re moving towards a society of plagiarizing ai since its faster to use ai brain than our own to solve problems. Speaking from my personal experience. How do you develop critical thinking in an ai age. Is a book that should be written given our current trajectory of dependency on ai mind over our own.

I understood this and thank you for speaking the way you did. I am very new to even the concept of AI as I am not a developer, an analyst, or even working information systems. I am an EPMO manager (project management) with an even weirder background education (Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Counseling)....long version (I prefer business). This just happened to be my first youtube video on AI I got from your email (likely because I just purchased an AI course as I am trying to find someway or someone who might know how to create or teach AI to do voice mods (Project teams can get bored (as I do as like to keep things fun leveraging voicemod for instance in my facilitation of meetings). I digress (often). I parallel this to my defence of waterfall vs. agile approach to development. I found not just in my industry, but in many industries most if not almost all folks I ran into speak about Agile methodology as vastly superior and that waterfall should be replaced in all processes. I have found agile coaches and their students parroting the same thing (kinda felt cultish). I run an EPMO that sits at the executive level and not within one division (such as information systems). My leadership wants to know the best estimates of costs for things like budgeting for the fiscal year and reporting projects against timelines. Furthermore, most of the projects my team gets involved in are very large benefit implementation projects where the bid must be public and requirements known prior to it hitting the street. For those types of projects, I found the waterfall method (and for reporting all projects as a whole say in the portfolios of projects) is the right path and makes the most sense. For projects that related to maintaining or enhancing an implemented benefit (kinda like a product), I find that in order to get the work done for smaller more iterative gains, agile was superior. You would think after the response I got from so many I pee'd in someone's cheerios and blasphemed. All this to say is that I agree with you (not just because I don't know what I don't that is certainly true), but philosophically I am experiencing more and more folks that don't know what critical thinking actually is. I'm longwinded, but I just wanted to share that and well, if anything, you displaced the aloneness that I often find myself in when pondering the very types of questions or statements I receive both professionally and personally from technology to history and from politics to religion. I think you are an excellent communicator and thoughtful. The critical thinker in me does acknowledge this is based on one video watched and is in absolutely no way statistically significant to base a judgement of you on. can say it is true for me on this video. :) - Well done!
