Also, totally agree that mbti sensor descriptions lack depth. For instance, I had no idea that Se was so much about having control over one’s environment and experiences! It really helps to hear more about it from an Se dom’s perspective :)

What a lovely chat with Daniel! Really enjoyed that. He reminds me of my dad, who’s an ESTP btw, he’s the gregarious, intelligent, thrill-seeking guy who’s always the center of attention and involuntary leader/commander of the group, because he’s just so capable. When my dad was young, like 15 back in China, he had to swim across the ocean to escape for Hong Kong for a better life. He was physically carrying two of his mates in the water who were drowning as well, and I think he could only have done that due to the adrenaline. Mad props to my dad. Yeah, really cool talk and lovely questions as always Joyce!

Daniel makes being an Estp sound awesome, I'm glad there are people like him in the world.

I'm also an ESTP 7w8, and I feel so identified with what Daniel described. I'm one of the ESTPs who hates messy places, keeps things organized, and has a perfectionist approach, so some people often think that I have a J preference... I just don't like to plan. I know where I want to go and what I want to achieve, and I use my connections and all resources to get there step by step when I feel like it unless I lose interest on the way. Keep doing videos like this!

First time I took a mbti test, it came out ENTP, which I know now for sure I am not. I resonate a lot with Daniel’s thoughts about the questions being phrased badly for sensors.

Great interview, Dan's a cool dude.
Great to have a proper understanding of Se out there to combat all the misinformation.

Also, ESTPs are the most J-like of all the perceivers (according to Kersey and Beebe and other MBTI practitioners) so that makes total sense about the preference for order.

I can relate to what Daniel says about the sand (I used to be a professional surfer and now I hardly go to the beach anymore-in large part because of the sand and the mess it'll make in the car) and the dishes (people think I'm weird for doing the dishes immediately instead of waiting, but I want to maximize my enjoyment of the meal without the shadow of cleaning up hanging over my head).

Love this video! Super informative and interesting. There’s a lot of stuff Daniel said here that I relate to, especially about being annoyed by things being out of place or dirty in my environment, and remembering small details like the brand of a projector in a classroom. Lol. We definitely differ in a lot of ways, including crisis situations. I’m envious of Se’s ability to just see the best course of action in the moment and do something, whereas I tend to freeze and let others take over.

Also, the fact that you can just “tell” where someone’s muscles are tight is amazing. I’m always mystified by stuff like that—usually I can tell where *I’m* tight, but being able to do that for someone else is another story!

Thanks for the ESTP shows! As an ESTP female Ai find it hard to find videos about us especially ESTP women and ESTP mothers

Thank you J and D on Se. Helps me understand my spouse better. ❤️

His uncertainty about being a perceiver is due to his military training. The military requires strict rules and repetition so there is no need to think or doubt while in action. It becomes muscle memory. This means his Si and Te has been really developed. Many ESTP guys in the military are heavy in their shadow until they are told to go into action, and then you see them explode into their ego self.

This video is so informative! My brother is an ESFP and sometimes his driving may seem reckless, but he is completely confident and in control. He hates it if anyone comments on it or criticizes him on that. I admire his ability to be in the moment and think that is a kind of wisdom in its own right. Sensors and Extraverted Sensing does really have a bad rep in the MBTI descriptions.

As an intj it's so fascinating hearing about Se(/Ni) from a flipped perspective. I agree and think similarly with SO much of it, especially the need for calm in an emergency and the opportunity/lack of so dichotomy Joyce brings up at 35.00.

It's that SAME dichotomy of embrace/avoid for an intj (or I'm sure INFJ) but turned up to 100 or dialed down to -100. A much larger gulf between the two and much MORE polarized.

For example, for inferior Se, I will never *learn to like* rollercoasters. You cannot make me, for the **same exact reasons Daniel mentions**! I refuse to go on once. It's not a talent I'm interested in developing lolololol.

Hahaha, I laughed at the roundabout thing cause I definitely do the very same thing. I also see this behavior when I skate and stuff. Even though my Se is tertiary.

"If you don't know what is happening, how do you know what to do?" I loved this whole section. Daniel reminds me of Jack from "This is Us" who I also believe is ESTP, although ISFP in real life.

Lol wow. There is an ESTP at my job who also cracks the backs of our coworkers and it is so cool to see how he instinctively knows how to do all of this.

Woooow. "Focusing your calm, with the rush." Dude! I get this!! Haha, I took a lot longer to understand it...but when I grasped this after enough roller coasters, I totally embraced it. I love how Daniel phrased this.

Another great interview :) Thank you again. Especially the stereotype part that Daniel does not relate to. Being an Se 7, that shows how some things just don't fit EVERYONE.

There are two camps of ESTPs indeed. Those who love messes and those who hate messes…. then there’s me, who oscillates between both :| too lazy to clean, but hate the mess. Well not lazy… but I’d rather do other things that I actually enjoy.

41:35 as an ESFP, Daniel... you are correct. 😂

Guilty as charged!

I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth.
