I got mini 3 pro so I'm happy. But I agree, the pointless limitation of not having the mavic 3 have sdk is just...greed.

No way man. That mavic doesn't need the SDK, it already has all those features you would want or need. It's the Mini that needs that SDK, because DJI doesn't put those features on the cheap drones.

The Mini 3 Pro with SDK will be a great tool for modelling and similar operations in urban areas. The Mavic 3 Enterprise is the perfect tool for commercial photogrammetry. But the Mavic 3 or Classic with SDK would be a budget middle ground that clearly wouldn’t provide the accuracy required for good mapping, but encourage low cost entrance into that market. Having consumer drone owners competing over price for photogrammetry jobs does everyone a disservice.

many different people use the mini series also in a professional way. not only photographers use it as one usable backup drone. as one landscape ecologist i can tell you stories of angry people because of flying over their properties, no matter if it‘s green areas or buildings. i can tell you also stories about being in remote areas where you need the best compromise between light weight, silence and a proper quality of photos. and that‘s the reason why the mini pro series are unbeatable for so many, be it pro‘s or hobbyists. for me it‘s simply great for evaluating landscape elements of all sorts getting overviews and understanding of the stuff that‘s important for my profession. so you can downplay the mini series but for certain professional fields it‘s a new great option and after all sometimes the only option.

I like this option, it could be great for building inspection in areas where you would like to reduce the liability as much as possible, since there are not many sub 250g options for that.

For those of us who are devoted Litchi users and who are permitted to fly long-range waypoint missions beyond the RC signal range, this SDK for the Mini 3 is as significant a development as the second coming of Christ. All drinks are on me at the bar tonight fellow Litchi cult followers. All is well in the known universe at this time.

I buy a lot of cameras I will not buy dji action and if I have to pay 1000 to buy a new drone I will be sure it won’t be a dji

SDK on mavic 3 is a must, but I wouldn’t say say it’s useless on the mini series. A big part of my incomes as a pro drone user comes from the combination of litchi with the mini 2 in urban areas. Not all customers need a higher quality.

Men you are wrong... Mini 3 pro it's 249g and its means what for many people can flight when can't on manic 3...And can after release sdk access to waypoints missions via 3th party soft like Litchi/Dronelink and etc. Mini 3 pro + $25 you have waypoints mission for ground maps, and you can do it in some place where on mavic 3 need special assess to flights...

As a Mini 3 Pro / Android user, I'm simply thrilled. If I want better, it will be the enterprise with RTK, but for now I am looking forward to experimenting, without Litchi. I understand your viewpoint.

Hi, this is exciting news for my mapping. The Mini 3 with the Plus battery can fly for 51 minutes allowing mapping a larger area without needing to change batteries. I currently use Maps Pilot Pro app and Web ODM with my DJI Air 2s. I'll supply the lipstick, thank you. vbg

Many mini3 users do not update firmware because it forces Remote ID though it is not required legally. But DJI reported to FAA that Mini3 was a Remote ID compliance model. The announcement of SDK was a bait for the update. DJI did not have to declear now because it is still 8 months since the release of Mini3.
