We at Contender Bicycles carry three of the most talked-about bikes in the suddenly-hot long travel 29er mountain bike genre: the 2018 Scott Genius 900 Tuned, the 2018 Santa Cruz Hightower LT, and the 2018 Orbea Rallon M-Team.

29er mountain bikes had a poor start when initially introduced. Critics knocked the bikes for their slow handling, long wheelbases, and lack of peppiness when trails were at their fastest. Thankfully, we now live in much more enlightened times.

In this video, Chris explains what makes each of these bikes unique, and why the long travel 29er segment is so important.

You can’t go wrong with any of these bikes, they’re all incredible modern marvals...but, I would take the Scott Genius.

I've watched a few boring bike reviews today, this is by far the most boring bike review of them all!

Santa Cruz also has lifetime warranty on the frame as well as the bearings. And also on the reserve carbon wheels if you can stretch that far

So glad that Scott finally went 4-bar! 🤘you guys still carry BMC? I'm surprised the TrailFox isn't in the mix...

What are the major advantages of a press fit bottom bracket? Does it just allow the frame to be wider at the bb, therefore, stiffer or mainly aesthetics?
