**CORRECTION TO VIDEO: this Bible IS SEWN, I apologize for the mistake and hope to edit the video soon!**

This Bible took by surprise by with how enjoyable it is to handle and explore. The single-column wide-margin layout is a great feature, and I really enjoyed the inset helps that explored connections to the liturgy, social justice, archaeology, and prayer. It also offered explanations of key ideas and words. This Bible also has great introduction articles on how to read the Bible as a Catholic.

These are offered side-by-side with the NABRE's historical-critical footnotes and draws on them to assist readers in their exploration of Scripture.

My main goal is to help Catholics connect to a Bible that will draw them into deeper Scripture study and devotion. I do this by giving "close looks" at Catholic Bibles in video format.

I just wanted to join with some of the other comments in saying the deluxe Little Rock Study Bible (imitation leather) is a sewn binding.

I own the same bible myself and if you turn to genesis 18 and look in the gutter you will see stitches.

That bible is too big/heavy not to be sewn. I would consider amending this bible review as you really don’t want to give a potential buyer the wrong impression.

On a positive note, I am glad this bible got a review on youtube as it is really a good bible and the NABRE is a great translation.

I absolutely LOVE this Bible. The standalone volume with just the four Gospels actually got me started on the journey that will end - God willing - at my rite of confirmation in just under two weeks. One day I will replace my beaten up paperback copy with a nice leather bound edition.

(I bought it in Canada, so having the NABRE translation is also quite nice, as the RSV/NRSV is the 'official' translation in most of the Commonwealth nations, but the NABRE is a really good translation!)

Hi! I really enjoyed your excellent and very thorough review of the Bible.
I bought this Little Rock Catholic Study Bible just exactly like the one you have and I love it!!! I bought it last year.
I’m Catholic & I really appreciate the way this Bible is designed. It’s beautiful & chock full of special features!
Thanks for the wonderful review & sermon (LOL) 😉
God bless you! 💜✝️🙏🏻

I know this is a late comment to an older video but I want to say that this review, as well as the many comments that are against the translation and notes, actually convinced me to purchase a copy. I'm not one who believes every word must be literally taken or seen as "inerrant" and the "liberal" or historic notes are actually a big plus for me as they show things from a more critical perspective rather than a faith first perspective

So interesting to see that the Deluxe edition is glue-bound! It looks so much more expensive than that! It's my understanding that the hardcover is sewn binding - do you know if that's true?

EDIT: Would also love to see how you use cross references because I just don't get how to use them in study!

I am aware that some of the contributors to this bible are considered liberal but I went ahead and purchased a copy knowing that fact! Readers should note that fact, too. I do not have a NABRE version of the bible so that was one reason I purchased it. I also liked some of the features of this bible that you pointed out in the video. I plan to compare the commentary in this bible with that used in the "Didache Bible" and the "Ignatius Press Catholic Study Bible New Testament" and the "Great Adventure Bible" RSVCE . Thanks much for your review.

Would you review the Didache Bible by ignatius press, please. From what I understand it uses the catholic catechism for commentary

Can you do a review of The Divine Mercy Catholic Bible. I know it's a collaboration between Ascension, the publishers of the Great Adventure Catholic Bible, and the Marian order, yet it didn't get much publicity. Thanks in advance!

Little Rock Catholic Study Bible shows a clear balance between scholarship and devotion, thanks to the "historical-critical" materials for understanding the context and for discipleship. Using the NABRE text (and the usual book introductions, the usual, so-called "liberal" footnotes, and the usual cross-references), the book is suitable for a private devotional Bible study. Additional in-text study materials lead us to connect the biblical times and modern times, to understand the context through the book introductions, and to connect the Bible with culture, archeology, liturgy, social justice, reflection, prayer, and application. The so-called "historical-critical" approach is the antithesis of biblical fundamentalism.

I had bought the hardbound copy of that book from Claretian Publications through a widely-known Philippine online shopping company and it has revived the spirit of Christian activism within this person.

In your opinion is this the best apologetic catholic Bible nowadays?

Hi. I have a NABRE Bible, and am thinking about buying the Little Rock Study Bible. Could you tell me what are the other additions of the Little Rock Study Bible to a regular NABRE ? Like are the book introductions and footnotes the same as the NABRE's?

I just ordered one up on amazon yesterday and thought to look for a review on here. Thanks for that! I'm really looking forward to receiving it. I'm so glad I chose this one. However, I'm still thinking about getting the great adventure bible at some point. Thanks again and God Bless ~

Please consider reviewing Catholic Publishing Company's St. JOSEPH New Catholic Bible. It's a new translation published in 2019 with little to no fanfare. There isn't much online by way of reviews. Would love to see your take! I believe they only have released Giant print editions so far.

Does this have good commentary in the Book of revelation? Like who the 144, 000 are and the fall of Babylon, etc
