Maytag Washing Machine shaking and walking (updated)
Показать описание
This machine was bought brand new just 2 years ago and for a few months has been shaking violently (see the 16 second mark) and moving around a lot during the spin cycle with any size load. You have to pause it if you can catch it in time to try to evenly distribute the clothes. Had a repair man in yesterday who said it is the gear box that needs replacing and to call the store. The store said the 10 year limited warranty only covers the basket and drive motor, said to call Maytag which I will. The part will likely cost at least $300 and then labor to replace it will be $300 - $400. Seriously. I'm probably looking at a new washer then and definitely not a Maytag.
Update - 6/2021 - Dealing with this had to be put off for sometime due to home health issues and the plan was to just replace it. I decided recently however to take the suggestion of some of the folks that commented and look into the suspension rods. I found a site that described the parts that might fix it and the procedure for doing it. I decided to take a chance on the parts for $60+ first before spending $600-800 for a new machine. I received and email from the parts company in the link that went to my junk folder that suggested the plastic mounts only as being the most common problem. They were only about $10 but I had already ordered the kit so decided to just replace everything. Honestly everything that came out looked no worse than the new stuff that went in but for whatever reason the machine just ran a load trouble free that I would normally have to stop several times at least to rebalance. How long it lasts is anyone's guess though.
