Excellent video. This solved my issue for sure. Innovation on what to use to help pull the new rod up...I took one of the old ones and bent it over at the spring so you have some sort of a handle. Already has a perfect hook on the other end. You also know it will fit through the hole!

Thanks for the video! My 14 y/o Maytag Bravos had gotten to the point where it couldn't even complete a cycle without throwing multiple uL codes. I was able to replace all the suspension springs from the top side, which made the repair super easy. I did need my wife to hold the tub in the opposite corner from where I was working while connecting and disconnecting. I have small-ish arms and was able to use the vice grips to pull the old rod up enough to disconnect it from the plastic bearing at the top, then let it down in the cabinet. My arm was just long enough to reach in and unclip the lower blue clip piece from the tub and just slide out the whole old assembly. From there, I reversed the process with the new assembly and was usually able to get the blue clip to attach itself on the tub. On one or two, I had to reach in and help it, but it was no problem. The vice grips were then used to pull the rod up through the hole (I didn't need the wire loop trick) and put the new bearing on. I hope anyone reading this will be able to save themselves quite a bit of wrangling and try the repair from the top first.

Saved me buying a new washer! Took 2.5 hours. The first spring was the hardest. The wire hook was genius. Decided to recruit a neighbor for the final spring...arms a little weary by the fourth one, especially trying to clip the top holder properly.
Thanks!

Thanks for great advice! Replacing shocks worked, plus saved me a lot of money doing a really simple job myself! You're an awesome teacher, I followed every step, even taping down the lid!

I can confirm this fixed my Maytag Centennial washer which had been violently banging around during the rinse and spin cycles (for too long I'm ashamed to say). I have model MVWC200XW3 and bought rods with part # W10780048 from RepairClinic. EXCELLENT video! My screws in the back were slightly different (and you need a 1/4" socket). I didn't have to remove the drain line and used jack stands to hold the front and back up. Like in the video, i used a coat hanger with the ends wrapped around a wrench to lift the rods into place. Take pictures of the plastic rod holders beforehand. I recommend doing only two rods at a time, or just one at a time if you aren't confident in your arm strength. The bounce test is on point! Drum was really loose (I'd describe it) before and bounced a couple times (didn't seem like a lot at the time). With new rods the drum firmly and smoothly resets to the level position after a push. Tested with a large load and have a smooth spin. Thanks for the video! It convinced me my suspension rods were bad and took me less than an hour!

Excellent video! I did my installation myself and couldn't be happier. I was about to buy a new washer, and I said I would give it a shot. I'm so glad I did!

Yes, thank you so much. I am a 62 year old female and not very mechanical. But we got ripped off when the prior washer failed and we bought a used washer but immediately had the same problems with the new washer. So, this time I am determined to fix it myself. Your video was very detailed and told me everything I needed to know to get the cover open (warning, I did slam the damn thing on my hand and bang it up pretty badly) For the rest of the repairs, I will wear gloves. Anyways, I was able to diagnose the problem and use the link you provided to order the correct parts. Can't wait to finish fixing this thing all by my big self!!! Thank you so much!!!

Just finished this repair on my Maytag model # MVWX655DW2

It was my first ever attempt at something like this, but this video was a tremendous help. It’s a little bit tricky to get it just right but follow the directions, and as mentioned in the video, definitely wear some gloves and long sleeves.

A huge thank you for sharing the knowledge, my man! You saved me what was probably a couple hundred dollars in labor charges ✊

Thank you for this!
We have this exact washer purchased in 2016.
In the last month, it has become insanely loud on spin cycle. Painfully loud.
Came looking for a fix I can do since I've already fixed its counterpart, the dryer, before.
This seems very easy to handle.

Should not have these problems. Maytag went cheap the last few years. Had a 30 year old maytag that we had to replace because the tub rusted out. The centennial we bought shakes so bad it moved across the floor and pulled the drain hose out of the wall port and its only a few years old. This is the perfect example of corporate greed now days. Dollars over quality. This new hanging tub with struts is a joke. “Load sensing” is crap. I miss the old style that never had shaking issues and only took 1/2 the time. And I could choose the water level…….

How do actual helpful videos not get around? This is one of the very good videos.

Try tightening the flywheel first to fix unbalanced load issues. It worked for me. Turn your washer on its side ( tape the lid shut to prevent it from opening and disconnect the water supply lines) Use a ¼” allen wrench to tighten the flywheel (bolt is in the middle of the round wheel) . It will be tight to turn. You can use a short piece of pipe on your wrench for extra leverage. Wear gloves so if the wrench slips you won’t hurt your hands. Hope it works🤞

Thanks for all the helpful tips. Wish I watched the video a week ago. I replaced the centering springs but of course they did not solve the problem. Will be ordering the shocks today.

Best explanation for this repair that I have watched

Great vid! Had to improvise with a cut up metal clothes hanger in place of the wire you suggested. Had the wifey hold the washer while I replaced the springs. Took about half an hour. Thanks a lot.

Great video. This indeed fixed my banging problem on my Maytag Bravos 300. Two things I did slightly different. Instead of vise grips, I just pulled the rod with my hand and unclipped it from the holder. Second, instead of a wire I used nylon twine to pull up the hook. The twine comes off very easily. Thanks.
