I'd say another thing that I enjoy while being in sales is the abilities and skills that you acquire to sell anything and everything including your kids on whatever you want them to do.... Or at work.
Also the smile and pride you take with you when you go home after a big sale.... Man, it's the best thing ever.
And not to forget you get to dress as a million bucks every day...
I love sales!

People’s perception of sales is in a room wearing a suit with a power point presentation. What you don’t see is the 80 calls you made and the 10 appointments you scheduled to get into that room with that client.

I have huge respect for people in the sales and marketing department in my company. They have to get creative and being tactical on how to being liked by the client. It's not like you make the pitch and you are done.

My dad was a salesman, who could sell you a pile of sand, he was that good! He worked hard, 5 children but that also made him a good father! There are disappointments but there are twice as many rewards and at the end of the day, you can go home and know that you did a great job! That is what really matters. Love the video and lots of love to you!

I’ve been in sales 26 years and this is definitely still true til this day however I would give you some advice that I wish someone would of gave me when I was younger. You can’t keep up this forever, going to bed late waking up at 4:30am, on your laptop at home at night working late. You literally have a poor work/life balance I mean if you do the math you’re really putting in 10-14 hour work days. You can keep it up for a while but once you get married and have a family it’s a different ballgame. My advice would be to have fun and do the sales thing for a while but don’t stay in it too long, pivot into a different role in order to keep yourself fresh and avoid the “salesman label”. If you do it for too long it will be difficult to change roles in the later part of your career because you’re just a “salesman”.

Definitely nice production on this video! My job is very “blue collar” so it’s cool to see how other people in other careers function day to day. But also it’s crazy to think about how no matter how different our jobs are, we’re brought together through YouTube and mutual interests and lifestyle. That is pretty awesome 😊

I have been in sales for 3 years now. Transitioned from selling printers B2B to being a consultant. It is crazy how much I have learned. Now, I am an Account Executive with Spectrum Business. Keep up the good work Travis!

I have some friends that are in sales and they do work really hard. Especially if the product is disruptive so the people your selling too are already sceptical. It's definitely a job I wouldn't want. I'll stick to keeping the computers running. Glad you're loving it! Keep Killin it!

sales is soooo hard in my opinion and rude clients really do affect your vibe when you approach the next client. I've been working as a sales consultant for a cross selling already existing customers and I still find it hard, can't even imagine what cold calling would be like. I think about quitting at least 6 times a day lol But It taught me how to deal with rejection and still remain positive.

I just started in sales(insurance agent) 1 week ago. Working commission only everyday only to make NOTHING is VERY frustrating. On top of that I’m facing eviction soon. But at the same time I love it. The possibility that I just might make a sale that day. The possibility that I will one day be financially stable for not just myself, but for my family keeps me motivated. A part of me wants to quit and get a paid salary job, but I just can’t. I worked for about 9 hours today and made nothing. But I’m not even upset, because every day I learning something new. To learn something new is so so rewarding. Commission only is tough, but seeing my colleagues making a lot of money doing it really motivates me to do and be better, because I know that one day that’ll be me.

Sales is probably one of the most impactful jobs that I've seen. You single-handedly keep a business alive with every deal you close. It's also brutal. You have to keep facing rejection, brush it off, and get back up, all in a marketplace that is evolving at the speed of light. Props to you for texting your girlfriend every day for 1 year. I've made a commitment to improving my communication skills (sales, marketing, negotiation, management, etc) at least for this year, if not for the next few years, because of how important it is to business.

How do you stay so persistent through the grind?

What I really enjoy about sales is that it's self driven. You take total responsibility for your outcome. You strategize, optimize and execute

I appreciate this video post. I am a high school marketing/sales instructor and am putting online lessons together due to Covid-19 and school closures. This video complemented our Managing Your Time and Territory chapter lesson very well. Thanks for being our YouTube guest speaker for this chapter:) Best wishes to you.
