to put it another way, it adjusts the control surfaces, so the plane will maintain a consistent altitude without constant input on the controls.

Thank you Captain. The information you bring us is very important. It's the details that make the difference in life, and in aviation too.

Learning to quickly and precisely trim is the most valuable skill to master in learning to fly. IMO

Thanks to Anton Flettner. So-called Flettner or trimmer ease on pilots effort to handle the stick and pedals. I still remember the push back force on my stick because I was not trimming enough the elevator upon take off to offset the center of gravity.

Thanks for the info. For some reason I assumed it just offset the “center” of the already existing elevators

Is trimming used to pitch up during final approach, and use yolk to add to nose up for main landing touching down first?

Am I mistaken in thinking the P2012 is equipped with a stabilator rather than a fixed tail plane and elevator? Explanation on trim still correct though. Nice video

The real question is if this is one of the older pipers with the funky trim wheel on the roof… that instead of going forwards and back or up and down like a logical sane trim wheel, someone designed as a turning handle that comm goes clockwise and anti-clockwise which really sucks when you’re trying to learn trim off feel and not need to look every time to see which way is more and less trim

I would love to know how to set these when landing in the simulator
