It is symetrical but you focus on the shape when its rightside up but when you blink you can't focus on how it looked originally

The trick is to blink while looking at specific corners. Preferably bottom left and top right corners. As you're focusing at the respective corner, blink then it will flip without you needing to flip your phone

Understand the illusion by looking at how the dark gray and white steps flips. Then look at the bottom left or top right to make the stairs flip over.
