Had it show and keep temp at 85 for 4 weeks till none shown lowerd to 75 been good ever since

I feel like you could only do this on a FOWLR tank, but great advice!

I had ich in my Coldwater natives tank, obviously could not use the temperature cure. I put a bunch of fresh garlic cloves in there, and treated the tank with an herbal ich treatment for two weeks, fed the fish less and did water changes with rain water. I did have to remove to Dace that were looking bad, I released them. The other fish recovered.

Excellent distinction, understanding parasitology and the parasite’s lifecycle is essential to management.

That said, for how many days / lifecycles will the host free tank and the quarantined fish need ?

Quite to the contrary the ick parasite life cyle speeds up when you increase temperature, and the parasite detaches from the fish to attach a surface to multiply...this cistic phase ends up in a burst which results in tons of new parasites floating in water, looking for new fish to attach and begin a new cycle...4-5 degree F increased water temp will not kill ick unless you deprive it off of potential hosts.
