I own a Wii U and I still use it to this day, but I can say with confidence that it was a failure.

Did this really need to be addressed?
13 million consoles
3 90+ rated games (no late ports)
I wish it wasn't so but it is what it is.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. The Wii U is basically the Panasonic 3DO/Atari Jaguar/Philips CD-i of this console generation and that is a FACT.

I don't think anyone is denying that fact anymore, and if they are they're delusional

The Nintendo Switch will have the _definitive_ version of the 7th gen FIFA 18. :-D

Is it ironic that Nintendo fanboys thought that the Wii U was gonna be the next big thing in gaming, and now they wanna act like the thing doesn't exist? Now they think that the Switch will be the next big thing for the gaming industry. I wonder how they'll react if that console fails as well.

At the one point the 360 and PS3 was getting more third party support than the Wii U so it's safe to say it was a failure in all regards.

When the Wii U is revisited in the history books you will have groups that either blame third party devs, the consumers, but never Nintendo. Pretty sad really.

Not only did the Wii sell more, but it had more quality games. Sure the Wii was filled with shovelware and casual garbage, but there were also many underrated gems like Muramasa: The Demon Blade, No More Heroes, MadWorld, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and many more. The Wii U, on the other hand, lacked those gems.

The Wii U wasn't a failure.

It was a complete and utter disaster.

Please Bow your head in moment of silence WiiU Reveal 2011 to it's End 2017 as i said Nintendo fanboys are the reason why Nintendo failed to get back into gaming goodness it is what it is.

The Wii U has nothing going for it. I can think of many things that almost every other Nintendo system had that the Wii U doesn't have, such as a Metroid game, a true 3D Mario game, a main series Fire Emblem, an Animal Crossing game, a F Zero game, hell, it doesn't even have an exclusive main series Zelda game. Also with the few good games it has, they're either getting ported to Switch or already ported on 3DS, so I highly doubt it'll become another N64 or GameCube.

I thought that was universally accepted by now. The last major release was in 2015. Even then, it only received first party games which are now few and far between.

Very true, it wasn't better than the PS4 or Xbox One, not even close. But despite its failure, it's still a better piece of hardware than the Wii. I don't care about the Wii's success. It was the worst console in my own lineup of consoles, having a paltry 12 games I was interested in, compared to an average of 30 - 40 games per Nintendo console I found worth playing. Even the Wii U had 22 games I found worth picking up, despite being a total bomb of a product in the market.

The Wii U was a failure in the market. The Wii U was a critical failure. But it still doesn't top the original Wii for being the biggest personal failure in my life. The Wii U was not a waste of *my* time, but the original Wii was.

Lastly, I'm ignoring the Switch outright until Mario Odyssey, because a 10-game lineup is the worst launch I've ever seen, and my attention in 2017 belongs to the mini-ITX form factor i5-6400 + MSi RX 480 build I put together last month.

Loved the Wii U. Great games on it. Failure? Definitely yes, but still enjoyed it for what it is.

I was once a staunch Nintendo supporter, I was hyped for the N64, GBC, GBA, GameCube, DS, Wii and 3DS but when Wii U was coming, for the first time ever I was completely uninterested in a new Nintendo system. I didn't know it even was a system, I thought it was a peripheral.

My problem with Nintendo is that they've completely givin up on being a main console, and are happy with being the other console.
They're more focused on their handheld market and new mobile market then push for the home console market. It's the reason why their console is a better version (hardware wise) of their handheld.
The Nintendo switch is basically the 3DSpro, without and library to back it up.

The Wii U sits next to the 3DO, CDI and the Atari Jaguar in massive fuck ups.
