You can avoid the wrinkles by hanging the tie over a round rod or thick hanger after you wash/rinse, and allow it to drip dry. Re-shape the tie while hanging and let dry. To press, lightly spritz with water, then use a steam iron. Place a thin pressing cloth over the fabric to avoid leaving shiny marks or snags from the iron. Works great even for silk ties!

Ties should never be ironed or steamed this hard. The tie should have soft and round voluminous edges. You can possibly steam from distance and then press just with your hands to smooth the wrinkles out. Sharp hard edges = destroyed tie

Spray a light mist of 5-1 Awesome cleaner and wipe gently Sray warm mist of water and steam iron lightly

I actually steam my ties not heavy but good enough to get the wrinkles out .. and like you I move the iron fast you don’t want to press it flat
