Swapped from a nipon modus 120s shaft to a recoil esx 480 shaft, gained 4mph club head speed, both stiff shafts but the weight gave me massive improvements

Great video, even better insight. Thank you. Your data gives me real confidence especially when the market deliberately inundates us with a multitude of variables that truly don’t matter to 99% of amateurs playing today but we get so caught up in it. Modern day measurements and analysis were never available to Palmer and Nicholas and they did pretty good. At the end of the day, do what feels good is what I take from this video.

Great Video.. Shafts are actually very important for a more consistent shot. I still prefer Steel Shafts for my Irons.. but for Driver uses a Senior Shaft..

I had clubs with dynamic gold shafts in but they were too heavy so I now have kbs light stiff and what a difference to my game 🏌🙂👍Well done mark 👏

Pured Carbon shafts in my irons. Cost a fortune but I love them.

The weight distribution of the shafts makes a big difference too. My stiff flex XP 105s felt much lighter and launched higher than my stiff flex DG 105s.

I got a mix. I like regular for all my irons except 7 I got stiff. And my driver, 2 hybrid and 3 wood all stiff.

Go with the shaft that encourages you to make your best swings.

Zero in on your preferred weight first - then fine tune with stiffness if it improves your dispersion..

worked as a fitter for major brand companies for the last 20 years and pros don't care for flex. And we don't fit them based on their speed. Mark is right. Pros are fitted based on the hard data. Tour avg driver ss is 115mph. If you go by this speed alone, every tour pro should be using x-stiff but this isn't true. We fit some of them with regular or even softer than regular flex, that's because they get the best numbers with it. For amateurs with inconsistent swing stressing over flex is somewhat ridiculous because whether you play with regular or xstiff won't make much difference because first your distance is short (less dispersio) and second your swing is inconsistent (you'll hook and slice 7/10 times). spending $350/shaft isn't going to improve your bad swing. Buy the easiest club you can swing most consistently with and just enjoy the game. And play with the least spinny ball. that should help keep the ball more in the fairway. stop wasting your money on expensive golf balls that are designed to spin more. because after one hit, you'll never see it again.

its not just about the stiffness of a shaft, but the profile of the shafts. i have nippon 120 for the softer middle and stiffer tip and butt. while someone else might want the softer tip. hell, stiffness doesnt equate to equal stiffness. the elevate shafts are weaker than other same style of others.

one more thing, if your swing is inconsistent and changes from day to day minute by minute, don't waste your money and time on getting fitted. What you are getting fitted for is your bad swing. And it's not even reproduceable. Now you go and throw all this money at the wrong clubhead and wrong shaft. Clubs don't really matter. did you know the distance between hickory wood driver vs modern titanium driver is less than 50 yrds? Golf is all marketing bs and they are looking for suckers everyday. don't fall for the trap.
