All these digital encoder rings on cameras and lenses today aren't great. Like you said they never seem to work quite right, you always overshoot or undershoot what you're looking for, because there's no feedback. It is nice that you can change what they control on the fly, but that doesn't make up for the issues in my mind. Maybe if they had clicks like Canon's RF L lenses. But still I miss actual mechanical rings.

I looked things and the Nikkor 35mm f1.8 is actually $100 more expensive than this f1.4!

at first 6.3 aperture, any lens can perform very well.not big deal.

Hi Ken, there's quite a lot of slip-smack/swallowing sounds from your voice, unusually so. You really don't hear this from anyone. I know a lot of people can't stand that and I try to edit it out of my own vids. Just thought I'd tell you in case you weren't aware.

Man, every time I see you do a review of a Nikon product, I am more disheartened. It seems Nikon keeps lowering their build quality. Sony & Canon camera body's ( and lenses) don't feel plastic or cheap at all. Even Fuji gear feels pretty good.

A rebranded chinese plastic lens made to compete against the other budget chinese lens obviously. Affordable and good enough for many but... I remember Ken you said many years ago you don't recommend Tamron and Sigma, even if they're sharp, because they're made of plastic. Things changed now ?
I wouldn't buy that one but I actually find Nikon marketing strategy interesting.
I'm waiting for the Viltrox Lab f1.2 line, I'm sure they'll be great...

What do the captions on the sample images of trees in this video mean, is that Czech?

You do mention when something is offshored to China in most of your reviews, but are you more concerned about the offshoring part? That Nikon used to make everything in Japan but now very little? It is quite sad to see them have to outsource so much because I always liked Nikon a lot.

Still, some third party makers of gear in China make some great stuff, like Light Lens Lab making a number of classic Leica lens designs with original or very similar materials - I think they even sourced the evil leaded glass to make one or more classic designs more accurately.

I know I will be happy with 512GB on the iPhone 16 pro max but can you please give me a case for upgrading to the 1TB if it’s my primary device for photos and vides please 🙏 remember my dilemma for travelling this year, it was wonderful just having a phone and the 10-18mm and 18-135mm on my T6S super lightweight 😊now my justification for the upgrade is to stay to 512gb to save some money but i haven’t upgraded since the 12 pro max 128gb and I still enjoy life although running out of storage is brutal 😅 and I don’t want to mess around with external ssd 😢so please is the 1TB going to be worth it for me 😅😮
