a scene that is intense as hell. one of my favorite shows that can capture some of the realness of COPS with enough theatrics mixed in to make it not boring.

As a retired LAPD Officer that worked this neighborhood, "the Jungle" in Southwest Division. This is a spot on damn accurate version of working in the Hood! The first time I was shot at was on this street.... Palm wood dr. Somethings you never forget!

i love how much research the writers and producers did, from such small details like the female officer in the beginning saying “i’m contact your cover” when exiting the vehicle

The extras and everyone involved making this scene killed it 👌 Southland seemed like a decent show

People don't realize the writers never meant to glorify cops, but to humanize them. In the show we see their egos flare, their fear take over, all the things that can keep a cop from being a protective server of the public.

Southland was literally the greatest show to ever be canceled too soon. I still get upset thinking about it.

That's exactly what would happen too. Southland was very realistic. Miss this show

Why watch this hollywood version when you can catch this action all the time on the 6 o'clock news?

Talk about predicting the future, this show was so ahead of its time

@Renagade2332 When someone decides to roll a 2000 pound hunk of steel at you...the law sees that as assault with a deadly weapon or even attempted murder. As long as the officer can convince a judge that he felt his life was in immediate danger (and the lives of those around him) he has the right to stop the threat. If the car did not move rearward and he still shot the guy... then he would be in serious trouble. Clean shoot and one that happens alot. Cars kill more cops than guns

I love this scene from the way it's shot and choreographed.

Thanks so much for posting this and letting us embed it! Southland is one of my favorite shows and I'm trying to get more people to watch it, this is going to help a lot!

Isn't that the same area where they filmed "Training Day?"

My dad was a SBI agent during the 90s went through a lot of these type of situations, to the point him and his partner had to jump onto the roof of there car

That's exactly the way it is. And then the cops are the bad ones...

TNT had another amazing show back then called Men Of Certain Age which was about 3 middle aged friends coming to terms about getting old(Ray Romano, Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher). Lasted only 2 seasons.

It looked like he was learning to drive with manual transmission.

I may have cried for a week when that show went off the air.

I'm a fire fighter and I see this a lot. Our law enforcement here do a great job clearing scenes when we go in with EMS. Its bad that we firefighters wear bulletproof vests as well... This is the country we live in. The youth are lead by uneducated parents and the cycle never ends. Takes 1 out 10 to choose a different life style. But it will take more than just that once to help clean up society. Truth is.... The government that allows all this assistance for food..healthcare and child care makes people get to comfortable. They forget how to work and teach the young.
