I absolutely love Italian food! It's my second favorite ethnic cuisine behind Filipino/Chinese food. My favorite Italian dishes are Spaghetti or any pasta with some kind of meat sauce or meatballs, Lasagna, Ravioli, and last but not least, Pizza. Not too many people know this but at one time, Pizza was once considered as "peasant food". 🍝🍕🍴🍰👌😎😀

Okay as an Italian I have two things to say about this list.
First: there are no variations of carbonara. Carbonara is with bacon, eggs and pepper, some add pecorino or other cheese. That's it. That is the real carbonara. All the other type of pasta that they call carbonara, like carbonara with sea food, or vegetable are not carbonara. They just borrow the name cause they didn't know how to call it.
And for Gods sake stop selling spaghetti with meatballs as an Italian dish. It's not. You won't find spaghetti with meatball in any restaurant in Italy. Italian families don't eat spaghetti with meatballs. I have no idea where this dish comes from, but it's not Italy. It's not that because it has past in it than its automatically an Italian dish. It might be an evolution of traditional pasta with tomato sauce born in America or whoever knows where, but I promise you that spaghetti with meatballs isn't born in Italy and very few people actually eat it in Italy.

Holy Christ. Can people read? If the word AMERICAN is in the description the list will prob contain foods that are Italian American fusion not foods simply found in Italy. The amount of people whining about bs etc is absurd.

in italy we use meatballs (or other kinds of meat) mostly for flavouring tomato sauce. then we use the sauce without meatballs for pasta and meatballs as second course. that's it

No no no no You will NEVER find spaghetti and meatballs in Italy. Carbonara is just eggs, bacon and black pepper. Brushetta is just chopped tomatoes, garlic, oil and basil.

Italian food is one of my favorite types, especially the pasta al forno. Bruschetta, gelato, lasagna, spaghetti & meatballs, pizza and cannoli are the ones I've had before.

Everyone's complaining that Spaghetti & Meatballs is not Italian, when they only stated that Spaghetti is the most universal Italian dish. Also, the list clear states "top best Italian-American Dishes."
