“Please tell me at least once that you’re proud of me”. Man does that hit home.

I told a woman i worked with to go home and tell her husband that she appreciates everything he does for her and the kids.
The next day she said, " He didn't know what was happening at first and thought he had done something wrong ".
Men need to know they are appreciated.

I am in a relationship with a wonderful man and when things really started getting serious I told him I was proud of him and so happy and honored to stand by his side while we grow together. He got very quiet. When I asked what happened he said no one had ever said that to him before. He had started to tear up and was just processing the moment. He’s the best man I’ve ever met. He deserves to hear it all the time.

When I told my ex whom I had been engaged to that I was done with the relationship and felt we needed to split up, she demanded I explain to her why. I said “I will. I just need a minute to myself to calm down and collect my thoughts first.” She ignored my request, now demanding I tell her right then. At that point I just looked at her and said “Well to start it’s felt as though everything for the last couple years has been based on what you want, when you want it, and how you feel while my wants, needs, and feelings have been ignored or invalidated.” She insisted “That’s not true” and so I repeated “Then may I have a minute to myself?” And instantly she countered “No, I want to talk about this right now”.

As heart broken as I was it made me chuckle in disbelief that she didn’t seem to realize she was doing the exact thing I *JUST* told her was bothering me.

I am an old man of 80 years.
I watch your videos with despair over how much our simple humanity toward each other has fallen.
The love of my life has been dead for two decades. In our marriage, not a single day went by that we did not show love and appreciation for each other. We never went to bed angry, even if we stayed up all night to talk it out. In 30 years, we had two serious arguments in which we were both right but still wrong. Through hard times and easy times and her long terminal illness, our love for each other only grew stronger. I still see her face everyday, in my mind.
I wish you all could find what we had. It is why we are on this earth.

One Anniversary my girl gave me a card thanking me for what I've provided and the great life I've given her and our daughter. I keep that card on my work desk and look at it every so often. To this day, she has no idea how much that card means to me. I pray for a moment like that for all my brothers! Keep your heads up, kings!

Did anyone else see "I changed so much of myself for you that I lost who I was" that broke my heart

The fact that some of these women literally need to be told to show love, respect, and just basic affection to their man is horrifying. This is NOT normal.

After the hell my man went thru with his ex wife, and then losing his father and his little boy suddenly, and then us losing literally everything after life snowballed out of control... I am so lucky to have him still. He went through some of the absolute darkest times, and I am grateful everyday that he continues fighting and hasn't given up. I try my best to remind him everyday that he is loved, and he is safe to express his thoughts and feelings without worrying whether or not I'm going to react negatively to it.
We've been together for a little over 11 years now and I'm forever grateful.

That “I raised your daughter” comment is exactly why I won’t date single moms anymore. My last ex had a daughter that I loved as my own, and then she took her away from me when she left me. I’m still in so much pain every day and miss her so much.

If I talked to my girl the way she talked to me, she would break up with me in an instant.

Update: So it's been ages since I've posted this. So I thought I should give you guys an update.

At first I was mentally checked out so I decided to treat her how she treated me. She eventually asked why I changed and I told her what was going on. To my surprise, she started going to therapy and started taking medication. She became a better person and she even admitted that life is easier without the "everyone is against me" mentality. She once told me "You stuck with me at my worst and now you deserve me at my best". She is a totally different person now. We still have arguments but they feel like actual disagreements. She's not perfect but she's trying and that's all I can ask for. She's been keeping this up for almost a year now.

I didn't know how powerful it was to be told by my new wife of 6 months last year, that she was proud of me for handling the stress of moving to a new country, of leaving my home country to start the next chapter of my life as our life. Boy did I cry hard.

I heard a comment/quote before:
The first flowers a man will ever receive is at his own funeral.
I thought that was very profoundly deep.

Married 10 years. Dated for 3. Never heard that once. Sorry was another word I never heard. I worked 50-65 hours a week. Worked on cars and lawn. I did 95% of the cooking. Absolutely love being single. 😊
