Today we are digging to the details of a powerful new light, specifically the Orion 300 by the start-up company Prolycht.

This is an in depth review where we really get into the nuts and bolts of color accuracy and how those findings relate to the Orion 300.

We also compare the Orion 300 against the Aputure 300X Bi-Color light, and the results are interesting.

Incredible video.

I learned a ton.

Very informative video. Do you have any plans to shoot a video about how CRI or TLCI is calculated? At least now i know how and why you get magenta or green shift.
I did test orion light with spectrometer and i got kinda low CRI results ( R9 is 92, 3 on 3200K, while 300x has 97, 8) but the overall light output shocked me, as i was expecting it to be smaller than on 300x, because mono color lights are powerful, bi color lights are usually 30-50% dimmer, but an RGB light with the same wattage that has more light output than bi-color? Never expected that
And additionally to that, i dont know why and how, but the tungsten light from arri light line looks much better on camera than any led light, is this just the color correction thing or just subjective opinion? Did you try any?

Thanks for explaining the Plankian curve! I've heard about it in so many reviews, but never knew how it worked.
Do you notice any beam artifacts when using the Aputure fresnel with the Orion light?

Hi James,
Really loved this video!
I’ve a question about the Chromaticity diagram.
How did you know that 5600 - and 3200 kelvin is the sweet-spot in terms of Delta UV?
And is it correct that if your light is a RGBACL light your color accuracy is way better than RGB? Is that because of the individual LEDs instead of mixed LEDs?

Cheers,

Ravi

If you put a diffuser over the light, wouldn't that solve the weird shadow problem? Why go to all this trouble of making random pattern LED?
