The Chinese military has gained access to the personal data on millions of influential people around the world, including Americans, and yes, including their Tiktok data. This was the findings of China expert Christopher Balding who's responsible for the Zhenhua data leak. Zhenhua is a Chinese company that was gathering data on millions of people worldwide the Chinese Communist Party would like to influence and bend to their will.

The unresponsiveness of German security services to Chinese agents isn't necessarily a sign of Chinese toplevel influence.

You have to understand that law enforcement in Germany is notoriously incompetent, as well as hamstrung by extremely rigid rules and regulations, to the point where the police often times is rendered outright useless. There were even instances where the German police themselves were being threatened by organized crime, yet they couldn't take action because no particular law was broken in the process. That's the daily reality in Germany.

There is an endless cavalcade of horror stories coming out of Germany where the police and other state institutions just failed on a monumental level. For example: The Turkish intelligence service operates similarly reckless and unimpeded in Germany. They're threatening and intimidating dissidents and Erdogan critics among the Turkish-German community, and the German government and police does virtually nothing in those cases as well.

So in that sense it could be simply incompetence and not malevolence which enables Chinese actors.

So i was interviewed by a 40 year old chinese national grad student/teacher who claimed he was working on a thesis about the emerging socio-political fault lines in America, specifically from a Midwestern point of view.

He attended every College Republicans/Democrats meetings, American Legion gatherings, certain church gatherings etc. He always took notes and requested personal interviews with any interesting and outstanding individuals he met.

He and I spoke about identity and politics, over a recorded device, for about 8 hours straight. He was diligent in his line of questioning and seemingly had all the time in the world for this research, while he claimed he also taught grad level classes.

I thought we were friends and co-academics but as covid began and I heard nothing back from him, as he had promised to share his work with me and send me a copy, I've grown suspicious of him.

He told me that his parents were in the military, and that they were higher ranking. I didn't ask too much, because i didn't want him to get in any trouble with Chinese authorities back home.
