⚔️ MYTHOLOGIE CANDLES ⚔️

🌙 ABOUT ME 🌙
Hi! My name is Alice and I love books! I read just about everything from classics to contemporary fiction, adventures to mysteries, fantasy to all kinds of non-fiction - and I love reviewing and recommending books, and just generally having a chat about literature. I also adore baking, hot chocolate, crafts and basically everything cosy, soft and peaceful. I currently live in Oslo, Norway.

`'The older I get the more I get into birds" why is this so relatable 🤣

I don’t understand why people get mad when you don’t like their favorite book. Especially when you are being so respectful and just saying it’s not for you. You are entitled to have a different opinion, this is the whole point of booktube- to have a discussion about books, not to have a herd mentality 🤦🏼‍♀️🥲

I’d recommend Macbeth if you’re wanting to look into Shakespeare based on your love of witches!

I really like watching your channel and the book purges. It is a bit of a library tour where you can just glimpse at so many titles. I think I especially like about your channel is that there is lots of titles that I have not heard of before. My personal reading tastes vary with my mood and jump around genres more now that I've gotten a little older. I recently picked up Garlic and the Vampire at my library because I had seen it here. It was a fun read and I enjoyed the art, and with this video see there is at least one more which I will be looking for now. Thank you for sharing your books and library. I really enjoy your channel and book vibes. 🙂📖📚

So many beautiful books! The school you donate to must look forward each year to what you give them. I’d be waiting at the door with my arms open wide😊💕

H is for Hawk I DNFd and unhauled due to disliking the author’s disturbing accounts of White and Maxwell and also how she treats the hawk seemed abusive

I am impressed at how chaotic your shelves are - I would have to build a TBR bookshelf just to motivate and focus my reading 😅

Hi Alice, Vladimir Nabokov is one of my favourite authors, give him another chance. It happened to me as well, I have started with "Lolita", and hated it, but I'm happy I gave Nabokov another go 😊

I love Iris Murdoch! I would say any of those are fine to start with but maybe the Bell as it's less kind of weighty if you see what I mean. The Sea The Sea and the Black Prince are both amazing and among her best but honestly they're all great.

Pick up East of Eden immediately. My book group read it last year and loved it so much we decided to read all of Steinbeck’s books in order of publication. We have just completed The Long Valley, a book of short stories. Do not be intimidated. Writing beautiful, story gripping. You will be finished before you know it. Don’t get rid of Atlas Six-read it. I liked so much I bought all three in the trilogy in special editions. When I heard Empire of Shadows was reminiscent of The Mummy, had to add it to my To Buy list. I adore my Persephone book collection. I treat myself to two every Christmas. Into birds, too. The Great Circle is fantastic. I loved it so, I had my book group read it-we all liked it. Ocean vuong’s book is one of my favorite books. It is so beautifully written. We have so many similar tastes! Wish we could sit in front of your shelves and discuss…I love these kinds of videos. Thanks. I was super impressed with how lovely your editions are. Your shelves look beautiful, by the way.

Home Stretch was one of my favourite reads of last year! I totally loved it. Whilst there is a mystery plot to it, what I connected to more was the social exploration of sexuality in Ireland. 5 star read for me!

Each season I pulled book possibilities to read by my bedside table and sometimes in front of my couch on the coffee table so they don't escape from my reading them. I put read books that I know that I won't reread in a large cloth bag in my car to donate once its full enough. Luckily, you have quite a few books that you still want to read and most of them are very good books that you will probably like.

Hi Alice! I’m a lurker on your channel and just love your recommendations! Just wanted to say that the Antonia Fraser Marie Antoinette is really interesting. I learned so much about her and how basically she was kind of scapegoated and a lot of cruel lies and propaganda were spread about her. Basically she was a young, uninhibited fun-loving woman in the wrong place at the wrong time who really got a raw deal. Oh, and there were a menagerie of animals at court—like monkeys swinging around on the curtains at court, and the queen donning these outrageous hairstyles and dressing head to toe in ermine and going sled-riding through the streets. ❤

Okay damn sorry for the triple comment but since you asked - I did really love a Ballad of Snakes and Songbirds. I only read it a couple of years ago and I understand why some people didn't like it, it's pretty different from the original 3, plot wise, and obviously you're following the villain. But I thought it was SO FREAKING FASCINATING to learn about his downfall and how he changed and why, and you have other characters to root for along the way anyway. Also loved learning more about the history of the games, surprisingly, and how mockingjays became a thing.
