In this video I perform a lifetime of "dating" in a single experiment in order to test whether the optimal stopping theory is better than me at choosing a lifelong partner.

My stop dating theory: stop at the first one I manage to date.

It's really fun when you have no potential partners during the first 37% of your dating period, so literally the first partner that says yes is better than everyone else, until she breaks your heart.

Well, seems like my optimal stopping period arrived before I even found a perfect match...

12:46 I wouldn’t say you did bad in comparison to the optimal stopping theory. Both methods got 6 away from optimal. The stopping theory got 2 away from perfect while you got 4 away, but that minor difference is humbled by the fact that you got 56 away from perfect whereas the stopping theory died alone in one of the attempts.

imagine rejecting the woman of your life when you're in that 37% period of dating.

(1:30) Something is wrong in your math because when i=r you'll be dividing by 0, which you can't.
EDIT: (2:05) You corrected it...

The problem is we're trying to apply logic to an emotion, and love is one of the most illogical emotions.

it should be noted that the "optimal stopping theory" also applies to job hunting
or choosing the "best" out of a group
