========= The Final Solution LYRICS =========

Country in depression
Nation in despair
One man seeking reasons everywhere
Growing hate and anger
The Fuhrer’s orders were precise
Who was to be blamed and pay the price!

Wicked propaganda
Turning neighbors into foes
Soldiers of the Third Reich searching homes
And then the former friends are watching
As they are rounded up one by one
Times of prosecutions has begun

Ever since it started
On Kristallnacht ’38
When liberty died
And truth was denied
Sent away on train on a one way trip to hell
Enter the gates Auschwitz awaits

When freedom burns
The final solution
Dreams fade away and all hope turns to dust
When millions burn
The curtain has fallen
Lost to the world as they perish in flames

There was a country in depression
There was a nation in despair
One man finding reasons everywhere
Then there was raising hate and anger
The Fuhrer’s orders still apply
Who was to be blamed and send to die

Ever since it started
On Kristallnacht ’38
When liberty died
And truth was denied
Sent away on train on a one way trip to hell
Enter the gates Auschwitz awaits

When freedom burns
The final solution
Dreams fade away and all hope turns to dust
When millions burn
The curtain has fallen
Lost to the world as they perish in flames

When freedom burns
The final solution
Dreams fade away and all hope turns to dust
When millions burn
The curtain has fallen
Lost to the world as they perish in flames

========= Historic Fact ==========

Kristallnacht, also known as the ‘Night of Broken Glass’, was a pogrom against Germany’s Jewish communities. It targeted synagogues and prayer rooms, Jewish-owned shops and Jewish neighbourhoods. 90 Jews were killed.

I listened to this song literally a thousand times and never noticed it. Did you noticed, that the bass line sounds like a steam powered train through the whole song?

I had a buddy call this song Pro-nazi and he kept going on about this song being like that, i looked at him and said, "Shut up, its a remembrance." Now my mate thinks im a nazi.

Sabaton: *writes very negative lyric describing the Holocaust and depicts Hitler as a literal demon*
Some people: "Sabaton glorifies the Nazi"
???? Are they okay?

This song works because it holds nothing back. Nothing about this event was redeemable. Not even the little bright moments of heroism from prisoners in the camps or the amazing stories of survival. It was an atrocity founded on lies and blame, culminating in mass murder and torture. Freedom burns, dreams fade away, and all hope turns to dust. Millions lost to the world.
I appreciate that the imagery in the song doesn't dig into shock value, too. That seems to happen a lot in metal, where something serious and awful must be met with shock and horror. But nothing can really describe what they're singing about. All it can do is remark on the shame of it and scold the events for even happening.
Because if we don't prevent these things from happening, that's all we're left with. Shaking our heads, crying, and at a loss for how to even begin to describe what's happened.

You should collaborate with the HU and do some songs on Genghis Khan.

I always considered this one of Sabaton's best songs ever.
It has a great melancholic while still powerful melody, but the topic is standing out even more. No heroism, just pure suffering and death.

This is probably not the best place to say this, because of relevancy.
I consider myself to be a huge fan of history, and that's why I like Sabaton. You guys deliver thrilling satisfying tunes, while also delivering informational history segments.
Before this year, I had known of the holocaust and what happened during it, but I had never looked into it (I prefer to have my research guided in some way, it's best if my teachers form the strategy, though I will If I have to). Recently, I had to do a biography from the perspective of someone specific who displayed moral courage by rescuing Jews. After creating it and presenting it to the grade, and hearing other presentations, I find this song. This was a really deep piece, and I applaud you for doing such a good job, it was very emotional. I don't know why I decided to post this, but I felt like I was obligated in some way, thank you so much. I look forward for your next tour in New England. Stay safe.

One of my most favorite pieces of music. Calling this a song isn't correct as it's more than that.
It's a tribute.
It's a remembrance.
It's a story.
It's a warning.

You guys do a good job, making this and showing it to the world. Respectful, yet haunting. Daring without dangerous. Keep doing what you are doing Sabaton.
The worst thing isn't telling this story. The worst thing is forgetting this story.

The song has the perfect tune. It portrays the desperation of the German people looking for someone to blame for the economic situation. And how the evil nazi government use this and propaganda to enact this horrible act. It has a sense of dread and sorrow. Amazing work guys.

No matter how often i hear this song. Its a hard pill to swallow, but I still consider it sabatons best work. There are rarely musical pieces with such an impact on me. This is simply history that should never be forgotten. it is one of the examples of the overwhelming cruelty humanity is capable of. may we always remember to guard against the banality of evil.

My grandma literally began crying when I played this song to her and handed her a sheet with the lyrics translated into german.
She said: "It's good someone did a song about this topic and everyone who thinks this is glorifying that time and these actions is a stinking idiot."
And yes, that's the hardest my grandma ever swore in the 25 years I'm on this planet. 😂
