I remember doing a fun experiment when my son was little, and my husband complained that the house was never clean. One day I didn't do anything but take care of our son. My husband got home and wondered what exploded. I told him this is what the house looks like if I didn't clean and tidy throughout the day. He hasn't complained since then. Good times.
Keep shining bright. Love the videos.

it's not the cleaning that sucks it's the anguish of seeing it all get wrecked again in a fraction of the time

I am disabled from chronic Lyme disease and the 10 minute tidy is how I operate. Sometimes I do a "Clean/tidy/put away/take care of 5 things" instead of using a timer. If it's a particularly bad pain day, I lower the time to 5 minutes or do 2 things. This method really helps me to not get too overwhelmed or too depressed by how little I can sometimes do these days.

As you start making a meal fill the sink with soapy water and Wash as you go.
Cleaning spills as you make them as well

For those of us that don't have dishwashers a hack I have learned and it is amazing! Don't use running water. Fill one side of your sink with soapy water for washing and in the other side of your sink. Fill it with warm water and a healthy splash of white vinegar. The vinegar rinse will cause the soap to fall almost magically off of your washed dishes and it will also disinfect them which is great for things like water bottles and straws and what not. I know this to be true because if I simply rinse my dishcloth in water when I'm done using it the next morning, it smells horrible! However, if I rinse my dish rag in the even used vinegar water and ring it out the next morning, it smells perfectly fine

I just want to say thank you for the years of funny, inspirational content. You’ve kept me motivated and kept me laughing for so long and while I rarely comment, I really appreciate you — especially your authenticity and uncurated style.

Hate to say that no husband and no kids does not mean a clean house. I’ve been single my whole life and still struggle with it at 68.

Cleaning the dishes and a 5 Min. pickup everyday, is the key to having a clean house. I think everytime the kitchen stays clean, the rest of the house get cleaner as it goes. A clean basis to start decluttering.

Don't know if anyone is going to see this comment, but if you do, I use a tip for cleaning the bathub 3:48 if you've basically already run out of time for the bathroom. May seem odd, but I simply get some soap or cleaning product and squirt it all around the bath tub, and then turn the shower on at scalding heat. Better than nothing.

This is genius! I started working after being home for years and have been doing these few things every morning/evening & my house looks as clean as it ever did! It doesn’t take long! Thank you, Ariel, for helping this granny not feel so overwhelmed by a big life change❤

I love your videos! It is so nice to see a young mom in a modest home, keeping your home nice for your family ❤. 40 years ago, I was you. My Mom was a wonderful homemaker, but I didn't want to do things "her" way. (Did your mom ever say to you, "When you have a house of your own, you can do things how you want to, but while you live in my house, do it my way"?) Well, it took me quite a while to find "my" way 😉. I finally found my way.... All of your 5 daily jobs are spot on! Keep up your good work!

That little baby face in the walker is the cutest thing ever and I don't even like babies! YES GOOD LIST as a pet sitter I can't TELL you how many people NEVER EVER wipe down their kitchens!

You are so right about the shower. They get slimy with all the conditioners, and people are greasy! I love your idea of doing it a bit everyday in the shower. Dish soap and not bathroom cleaner gets it cleaner much faster.

I always say, if the kitchen and bathroom are clean everything else can wait. I read those to do lists and think eww at only doing bathrooms once a week. I wipe round every day. If you cook the kitchen floor gets messy in half a day. I use a yard brush and a dustpan and brush. It’s the quickest if you have a big old fashioned vacuum like me.

Something has to go if you don’t want your life to be all housework. I rarely dust and only vacuum everywhere every week or so. Beds get changed sheet by sheet. Bottom sheet one day, pillow cases another, duvet the next. That way it takes less effort and less major laundry all at once. Same idea as your shower routine.

My last ambition is to get everyone to wear their outer clothes more than once. A t shirt under a shirt or jumper is much easier to wash than the top layer and just how smelly do our clothes get when we shower daily and don’t work a manual job?
