“Fed Up With NHS Being Used As Political Football” | Patients Packed In Hospital Corridors

Patients lying on trolleys head-to-toe in packed hospital corridors are now a common sight, according to a senior doctor.

At Epsom Hospital’s A&E, patients filled every corner. Some were behind curtains, but others were lined up on trolleys near the reception desk, leaving barely any room to move as reported in the Daily Mirror.

The situation reflects the strain on the NHS, with recent reports calling it the worst in history.

Nick de Bois speaks with broadcaster Clare Muldoon, Talk presenter Jonny Gould and caller Chris in Epsom.

If it wasn't now the International Health Service, there would be no patients lying on trolleys in corridors for hours on end.

Stop the GP contracts that Labour brought in, stop paying GP's to do jabs and visit migrants, stop allowing migrants who aren't paying tax and illegals access to the NHS, stop non necessary treatments on the NHS like correcting plastic surgery that's gone wrong, IVF, gender surgery etc. The NHS is the 6th biggest employer in the world and the largest healthcare employer in the world, we see fewer patients have fewer beds and have worse outcome than comparable countries, yet we constantly complain we have no staff which is ridiculous, and that we don't have enough money we were ranked 10th out of 19 comparable countries when it came to spending yet the NHS is still failing. It's not money that's the problem it's the NHS culture, attitude and lack of accountability that's the problem, it's time to stop treating all NHS staff as perfect, not all staff are any good or capable if they were there wouldn't be payouts for negligence topping £2.5 billion, £35 million paid out for patients having bed sores totally preventable and down to poor quality of care just one example. Tear down the NHS and start again get rid of those with vested interests stop recruiting substandard nursing staff, stop NHS staff going to agencies and then working back in the hospitals they used to work in for double the salary, have a national cap on agency fees and procure better recruitment/agency suppliers. There are so many things that could/should be done but won't ever happen because politicians are scared of the unions, it's time to tell the unions where to go, and get on with sorting this mess.

Is it at possible that part of the problem lies in the practice of allowing non UK citizens to come into the country and get free NHS health care? There are just too many people to cope with.

Funding isn't the issue its the incompetence of the trusts' management that run the hospitals since Bliar's PFI interferences! I was in hospital last year with sepsis + other health issues & was 115 out of 165 @ 19.30 hrs 7th March! Beds / trolleys / chairs & other means snaking up & down the corridors! Fortunately due to sepsis eventually had i/v 23.30! Prior to then the only other time was with anaphylaxis & had to wait 4 hrs then!

The NHS has plenty of Matrons, they are yet another layer of bureaucracy. The government need to decide what their priorities are for the NHS and focus on those rather than it being a catch-all system for everything. Also the CQC needs reforming, as they just heap more bureaucracy onto the already over whelmed system. The care system needs an overhaul so that there is a through put of patients. I could go on and on.

It's great to hear that Kier Starmer has found another 4.5 billion to spend in Ukraine.

I was in the Birmingham QE hospital a week ago. It was like being in Mumbai central. Barely a white person there. Virtually every nurse was foreign with broken English, and had a computer on a rolling trolly, which must cost thousands. They must spend 70% looking at the screen. Hardly any work being done. I asked for 3 days, for a medication I have to have, but it never came. When it came to leave, I mentioned this, they looked at their screen and said I'd had the medication, but I hadn't. It was a shambles. Food was ok though.

What i find puzzling regarding the NHS debate is the fact that all the comparable western democracies spend more on health as a % of GNP than the UK but the UK has a universal access to anyone who wants it and is on UK soil and they wonder why it doesn't work ? In fact its even worse than that in the fact that refugees, asylum seekers and economic migrants get fast tracked before the taxpayer in some cases !!! Perhaps the sanctimonius WHO should devote some of it's funding to the NHS ?
