I was literally talking to my coworker yesterday about the war in Ukraine and they asked, "Wait, is that still happening?"

Literally the "I support the current thing" meme mindset.

I'm Kurdish, this is the norm for us. We're not just forgotten we're literally in the shadows never to be thought of.

The world cares about what the media tells the world to care about.

It's even more disheartening when you realise how little global attention other ongoing conflicts get

We the people are tired of our taxes being sent over seas for wars that line the pockets of the military industrial complex instead of helping our own citizens.

The reason is because the war is lasting a lot longer than we expected, and as a result, many of these countries blame poor economic conditions on their pay out to Ukraine for aid. That on top of Israel and Palestine taking the spotlight.

This is a common phenomenon. If you bombard people with information on a certain subject for years they become numb to it and eventually even annoyed by it.

As an African, this is how it feels for us. There are so many wars going on here but none of them have received even like 1% of coverage as the War on Ukraine. So if the Ukraine war can be forgotten so quickly then there is no hope for my fellow African brothers and sisters.

Unfortunately YouTube shorts aren't helping humanity's plummeting attention span.

No matter how much one should care, it's very difficult to care about something, anything, when you're constantly being exposed to so many terrible things all the time.

I was following several Ukraine war reporters on YouTube, and then they started disappearing from my feed. I searched a couple out and discovered that they are still making daily videos, but YouTube is demonetizing them, removing them from feeds, making them harder to see. It is making it harder to learn what is going on.

"... Could be won or lost depending on how much we pay attention to it."

This is basically the problem with media in general nowadays as they only publish "info" on those they can profit the most.

Prior to the Russo-Ukranian War, there was actually a massive conflict between Tigreans and Ethiopeans that claimed more than 600, 000 lives yet the whole world turned a blind eye to it.

People didn't stop caring about the tragedies of the world. They just realized their own countries are just as fucked.

It might also be because Ukraine has been considered a stale mate by the media

The american population has about an 18 month attention span for wars, and then they stop giving a shit. That was even true in iraq and afghanistan.

We in America still care just can’t get behind something while we are starving, suffering and homeless… America first

The war in Gaza etc was absolutely meant to distract from Ukraine.
Anyway, some of us are still concerned and engaged but there is so much good content on You tube it’s hard to watch it all
