In my opinion, this is better than taking vitamin D.

Here’s my order or favorite omega 3 types:
1) Cod Liver Oil (because it’s not just omega 3)
2) Krill Oil (close 2nd because it’s rich in astaxanthin and it’s lower down the food chain.
3) Calamarine Oil (still low down the food chain so cleaner and safer in my opinion)
4) Anchovy based fish oil
5) Garbage cheap fish oil

The Cod liver oil from 60’s, 70’s was a natural cold pressed version. That’s generally not what’s available in the shops today. Now it’s an industrial produced product, modified so there is little smell, taste modified, high temperature applied. You need to buy the naturally produced version, cold pressed ( like good olive oil) .

We are from Belfast Ireland and my father had all 6 kids line up every morning and we took a tablespoon each. We were never sick

My mom's 81 and could hardly walk very far. I even got her a wheelchair so I could take her out of the house for shopping trips etc. I got her to take 1000mg in the morning and 1000mg in the evening. Literally after a few days she felt better. Now a month has passed and she's been out in the garden watering plants, doing light cleaning and mopping.
I'm 48 and was getting the occasional pain in my knee and hips. Now it's virtually gone. Slight aches only returned when I didn't take them for a couple of days. We are both dumbstruck at how well it's worked.

I switched from fish oil to cod liver oil capsules several months ago to gain the vitamin A benefits. I've now dialed back on my D3/K2 and take that every other day.

a TSP of cod liver oil was a daily requirement for us as we grew up. My parents swore by this stuff. I haven't habitually used it since I was 12-13 though. Perhaps I should start again...?

My mother was born and raised in Holland. Anyhoo, as much as I hated it, she made me take a large table spoon of cod liver oil every morning. I attribute many of my great health attributes to that,

I’ve just recently started using cod liver oil, and I give it to my kids too. We are not big fish eaters… so we definitely need it. It’s nice too see the science behind things we know to be good for us.

Cod liver Oil has one does one thing all these other oils don't do - helps to protect your EYES! Only oil I use, the rest can be assimilated with other supplements.

Oh my gosh, this makes sense. Btw people, I was listening to Christian talk radio years ago and the speaker was stating the importance of vitamin D3 and he impact it has on our overall health. Pretty much stating that whatever ailment you are suffering and whatever vitamins/medication you are ingesting, they will not help if you are deficient in vitamin D3. So with what we just learned, sounds like a 3 for 1 with consuming cod liver oil is a no-brainer. Thank you for sharing Thomas, much appreciated.

Started taking an extra dose or two after watching you mention "mega dosing" fish oil in a video. I take the same brand cod liver oil as seen here (Jigsaw Brand). I saw good reduction in the pain in my feet. However, I stopped taking so much after hearing that an abundance over time can inhibit the immune system. I still think taking extra every once in a while is ok. It's food based after all and some people suffer with malabsorption from colon inflammation, low bile, no gallbladder, ect. Great content as always! Thank you so much!!

Been taking cod liver oil since last December. First 4 or 5 months, I took it every day but have since backed off to every other day. Used to be "addicted" to lip balm. Now my lips don't stay chapped all the time so I just use lip balm a few times a day instead of constantly. Eyes don't seem as dry as they used to. Is it the cod liver oil? I don't know but I am sticking with it.

Appreciate your breakdowns of these issues Thomas. I have been taking these capsules for a few years now because of your explanations.

my mother gave me and my siblings a spoonful of cod liver oil every single day...my brother was the only one who actually liked it. But it actually did keep us from being sick a lot. kids are germ spreaders and back in the day we didn't go cuckoo over sanitizing hands, washing with soap and water was good enough. my sister and I absolutely hated the CLO...it was gross!!!! once we were in our teens, my mother stopped force feeding us the CLO every day....I've often wondered if I should start taking it again but that smell and taste makes me think twice...if I could get it in pill form I would probably try it again.
