He's actually talking about being in a different band during this segment. I think the band was called Mindfunk

Nirvana never lived in San Francisco. They lived/recorded albums in Seattle, Olympia, and Los Angeles. This video is incorrectly titled. He’s talking about the other band he was in and the drug use that occurred in that band (whatever band he played with that lived in San Fran) and he’s saying that the record he released with them is pretty good. He never released a record with nirvana and never played on any “nevermind” tracks. He toured with them a few weeks playing (already recorded) Bleach songs on one of their very early tours but they fired him before they started recording “Nevermind”.

Title is misleading. He’s not talking about his time in Nirvana here. He’s probably talking about Mindfunk.

He’s not even talking about his time in Nirvana. He was in a different band at this point.

It's easier to quit drugs when you don't have mental pain that it's Numbing

In addition to Nirvana, Soundgarden and Mindfunk, he was also on an album by grindcore/noise maniacs Old Lady Drivers. I still don’t know how that came about.

I think the drug use in Nirvana was pretty limited to weed, alcohol, and acid at that point. Kurt maybe tried Heroin around that time but it was a while before his addiction.

Jason Everman paid for the band to record Bleach, their first album, but I don’t think he even appeared on the album. And then he was gone, and later joined the military. A friend of mine, who knows basically nothing about music, was like “did you know that one of the guitar players of Nirvana became a special forces sniper?” I’m a lifelong Nirvana fan. Jason did have a brief stint in the early days of Nirvana. But the Nirvana everyone thinks of as far as “Teen Spirit” and “Come as you are”, that’s not the band he was in. The band Jason was in was closer to the genre ‘grunge’; sludgy, unpolished tunes like “Floyd the Barber” and “Mr. Moustache.”

This is about his time with MIndfunk when he lived with Shawn and Pat shortly before leaving the band.

I think he's talking about when he was in the band "Mindfunk". The band he was in after Soundgarden.

Apparently he played studio guitar on some 1989 sessions, one a Kiss cover Nirvana did for a tribute album called "Hard to Believe", and and then "Dive" which was released on the With the Lights Out box set. But yeah he was mostly a hired hand to play some live shows and not a full band member of Nirvana.
