that was so much help!. After doing a factory reset, the right controller worked, but didn't respond to movment. Your pairing trick solved my problem, and so you are the best ever. CHEERS!

To anyone still having problems:

Sometimes the battery is too loose, which is why sometimes it won't turn on, I wrapped the battery with a little bit of tissue to lessen the space. It now works perfectly.
I don't know if there are any safety risks with this in terms of tissue and the heat of the battery. I suggest using rubber bands instead.

THANK YOU! The Magic words were "Bluetooth". I was unable to connect my replacement Meta Oculus 2, since the first one was faulty. Coupling the new one in the app was impossible until i enabled bluetooth on my phone. You just saved me days of trouble. Thanks.
