Frank McCourt is an American businessman, Chairman and CEO of McCourt Global and current owner of the French football club Olympique de Marseille.

Prior to purchasing OM, McCourt owned the Los Angeles Dodgers for eight years. In 2004, he purchased a controlling interest of the Dodgers from Fox Entertainment Group, and, driven by costly divorce proceedings, sold the team in 2012 for an historic $2.15 billion.

Interviewed backstage at The Sport Business Summit, New York in March 2017, McCourt revealed how the takeover of Olympique de Marseille came about, why the opportunity piqued his interest and why he thinks the Ligue 1 outfit is a ‘sleeping giant’ in football.

Liar, the main reason why the team was TAKIN AWAY from him was because he was planning on using the 3 billion dollar TV deal to buy a European football club rather than putting a decent chunk of it back into the team. Had he been a responsible owner with the Dodgers he would own a 5 billion dollar team right now and likely could’ve still bought a much larger European club if he waited until the right time..But he is greedy and impatient
