For any flight (be it long or short) I take a long scarf with me. Airplanes are usually cold, so I can use it as a blanket, or fold it down and use as a pillow. Once in your destination it can be use as a wrap around on the beach/around the pool, or as additional head cover if you don't have a cap and it is cold or raining. There are lit of uses for it, some people use it as a towel in a pinch or a beach blanket. Possibilities are endless, the weight is minimal and is usually folds really small.

For long flights I love using a kindle. They’re thin and have a long battery life. If I get tired of reading I can pair Bluetooth headphones and listen to audiobooks. I initially thought eye masks on flights were overkill until I actually used one.

As a female I've always considered that a lot of street clothes are good for long-haul flights like yoga pants etcetera... but there've been a few flights over 12 hours that I've actually changed into PJs.

Quickly changing after take-off in the loo, then returning to my seat I am able to get absolutely comfortable. Nothing wrong with PJs as long as they "cover one's modesty"!!

The quality of all your videos are really superb, I love the mix of information and self deprecating humour - it makes the video, in the best sense of the word, very consumable ❤

Heads up about bringing bottles of water onto the plane: I found recently that some airlines/airports will have a second security check at the gate and make you empty your bottle. I experienced this while flying out of Colombo, Sri Lanka and Doha, Qatar.

Wow, that came just in time - less than 23 hours to my next flight ;-)
Thanks for the reminder - else I would have totally forgotten to store new video and sound files on my mobile ...
Apropos mobile phones: many airplanes on long haul flights come nowadays with USB charging ports in the armrest, even in economy class - just check it out (it is usually hidden at the bottom of the armrest) or ask a cabin attendant. And carry always your own charging cable with standard USB-A plug with you.

I joined pro a couple weeks ago, sorted out the last few things I needed, or so I thought! Thanks for reminding me I still need a collapsing water bottle. I still have 10 weeks until departure, luckily. I've done quite a few long haul flights and most of this has been my routine, but there's always room for improvement 😉

Just came back from Greece in May and Norway this month. I used Bellroy Sling with just the basics, iPad mini, toothbrush, underwear change. wired earbuds, battery pack, Nidra eyeshades. I will be upsizing to Bellroy Venture Sling soon so I can add jacket or sweater, binoculars, packtowl for touring around cities.

I'd add for the comfort section: no shame in wearing flip flops or slippers going on a flight. For TSA, super easy to take off and put back on and in the plane, easily let your feet breath! I perosnally like wearing socks and sandles, even tho it's an eye sore, but it's comfy and my feat don't have to touch the gross air plane carpet but I can stretch my toes and less layers for my feet to get sweaty in.

I know this sounds arcane, but I bring used paper backs to read and leave them at some of my destination points for sharing and sometimes can pick up more that way. My eyes can take only so much video.

I hate flying for long periods. I’ve tried everything but I just can’t fall asleep. Our 14 hour flight to Seoul was torture. One thing I found to help is a strong drink lol

Another thing I can't live without are sleeping headphones. I also recommend using them for workouts and general use when in need of a headband.

These kind of headphones are fabric headphones, that means that it's structure is mostly made of fabric, and it has pockets for the main part of the headphone and the speakers. Another thing that I noticed is that, even if technically open backs, they are very low when off the head (obviously they get loud when very near).

I plan my sleep before travel, and try to manage my naps to ensure I am tired when it's local night at the new destination. Good headphones/earbuds definitely help a lot, I've had good experiences with the Sony over ear XM900 headphones, and the Sennheiser Momentum TW 2 earbuds.

#teamsling ! Is the best hack I’ve learned because it’s allowed in your body during takeoff/landing!

I like to bring a tennis or cork ball to roll my feet on. I can pack my Xero sandals to change into once the flight gets going. I pair them with wool or compression wool socks
