Can the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier do High Gain?

In trying to find the best platform for a/b demos of pedals I set my sights on the DSM & Humboldt Simplifier. Story goes like this. I really haven't bonded with the high gain tones from my Kemper. Kemper is wonderful and sounds amazing in every other way to me. I used a Revv G20, but the clean really wasn't my thing as I like some hair on the sound when I boost it. The dirty channel also wasn't my favorite. It sounds great in a cab, but the recorded tone I personally haven't bonded with either. "Well duuuude, you need to tweak them..." Well, dude, I've been at this for a bit now. My first recordings were on a reel to reel as big as a fridge... So I will take your suggestion and keep at it.. ;) Maybe I'm old fashioned, but with the frfrs cranked I want my high gain tone to sound and feel real. Feeeeel real... I don't want to polish up a recording after the fact. I want a tone I love straight in so what you get is pure and real. Honestly what I'm try to accomplish here is make the demos I wanted to see and have a great time and tone doing it.
In researching the Simplifier I wanted to know if it could do high gain the way I wanted. There are a few videos that demo it with some high gain. Problem is I have no clue if they were polished to sound good after the fact. Did they sweeten it because they are getting paid? Are they making these videos for a living? I really just want the truth of the pedals. Not personality, opinion or subjective drivel. Hell I make a point to put all my bs at the end of the video... Speaking of, Haha, also make sure the phase spread switch on the Simplifier is in phase or your tone will probably cancel out on most laptops and phones. Sound super thin... Which is not what the Simplifier sounds like. Last video I watched was basically an error and rather embarrassing to be honest.
After saying all that, I can say yes, the Simplifier does what I want. What I am giving you is straight guitar tone you can get yourself. Guitar--Simplifier--Little ping pong delay for depth---straight into a obsolete audio interface---Straight into logic X. I made the video I wanted to find. Everything was done live. Yeah it doesn't sound polished, but it sounds real and will play nice on loud monitors!!! What you heard is how those pedals reacted to the Simplifier.
So in conclusion, with a little finesse, you can make it sound better or worse than this demo! Haha, there you have it, personality, opinion and subjective drivel! Thanks for stopping in!

Thank you for taking the time to do this! Hard to find any demonstrations of this thing with high gain pedals.

THANK YOU. I believe the answer is YES. The real tone I was hoping it wouldn't always result in was the Angry Charlie, because it's kinda blown apart at that point. I'm not doing any djenty stuff, but my cover band does do the odd Metallica or other song where I do kinda need to get a higher gain sound. I am probably going to do the mk2 here based on what I've seen from this and other videos. But yes, I wish some of these videos on the amp in a pedal would answer the higher gain question. Especially the walrus ACS 1. I can't find anyone trying it with that. But it's digital, and I am an analog guy when possible.

In my experience, the Simplifier does great with high gain. But it always has to be the first device in the signal chain. I use my in combination with a Helix FX. My guitar connects to the input of the Helix. Any presets where I want the Simplifier as an amp simulator, I send/return the Simplifier as the first block followed by my gain (Distortion/Fuzz) blocks, IR's and time-based FX. Sounds great, especially in the Marshall-like Simplifier settings.

Cool. What type of guitar did you use in this video? What can you say about blue REVV ? What will you choose if you must choose between REVV and JHS A-Timmons ?

Hi, slippery Jack.
I’m your new sub.

Can you attenuate the simplifier to lower the volume somehow? How does it compare with say the pedals into a real fender amp? Cheers

Try a compressor in the effects loop sometime!

I would really love there to be a “how to“ video for the SIMPLIFIER because, although it’s tiny, it’s difficult to get my head around!

I mean it seems to have two effects loops with no way of level mixing either of them into the signal (I’m assuming effects loop puts pedals between the PreAmp section the PowerAmp section?)

Also how to bypass the PreAmp & just use the power amp and speaker effect..?
