DSM Humboldt Electronics Simplifier Deluxe

The DSM & Humboldt Simplifier DLX is the natural progression of the original Simplifier — many weekend and worship guitarists’ favorite “zero-watt” analog amplifier. This pedalboard-sized stereo analog preamp and cab sim is every bit as versatile as having two fully independent amps at your feet. Dual independent signal paths allow you to meticulously dial in clean and dirty channels or, alternatively, run two wildly different tones in parallel to create elaborate wet/dry direct rigs. As with the original, each channel of the Simplifier DLX is driven by a triad of essential amp British and American amp tones. Only now, a 3-way Mode switch (Clean/Crunch/Lead) allows you to really slather on the saturation or dial up the dynamics in a hurry.

Great demo as always from Don... I bought one of these and it's really not that complicated when you think of it as pre-amp, power-amp, speaker-sim and reverb blocks. I like it - lots of different tones from Fender'ish cleans to Voxy jangle to Marshall saturated, overdrive... Would be great to see another demo from Don showing a few 'classic' amp/tone settings! I also have an Iridium, which is great. Iridium = simple, minimal controls, no fuss, IR loader, great tones - Simplifier = more tweakable, great tones, wider gain range, 3 x really nice reverbs, stereo FX loop, and the power-amp and cab-sim feel a lot more immediate than loading/auditioning IR's. Both are great tools with great sounds.

On the simplifier, full clockwise is center of cone for mic position. You may have noticed that when you fiddled with the dial that you got dark after moving it to 3 O'clock then back to Noon. Great demo, thanks

I think a lot of people would like to see a combination: Mesa, Marshal, Engl or something like that.
Waiting for this moment))

Awesome review!!! It took me a couple of days to get the routing/signal chain just right on my board. But man, this is EXACTLY what I've been searching for in my journey to going direct. I started with the cab sim switch on the Bigsky (good place to start), then to the Cabzeus (loved it! but I was missing the amp sim and the GUI is nothing special), then went to the Iridium (great pedal! loved the ability to load IRs, GUI was nice, but missed the balanced XLR outs). Simplifier Deluxe sounds excellent, love the ability to switch between a sparkly AC30 to a rich warm Fender Deluxe, and how all of the settings are right on the pedal is just mind boggling.

I use Scuffham Amps S-Gear for all my electric guitars when recording. Haven't found an amp sim or outboard pedal that touches it for realistic amp tones.

I like that it’s called the Simplifier but it looks like it has every button and toggle they could possibly cram into the chassis.

It would be interesting to experiment with this running straight into the APD Spacestation (v3 or XL). Seems almost made for it.

The versatility of this thing is unbelievable. Hands down. No competition. But the sound...all the demos I've heard here on YouTube sounds muddy. It has something the low mids...iridium sounds clearer.
But again...the connectivity options....damn it's making me choose connectivity over sound haha

My question is if I didn’t like the first version, would this one be any better?

Would love to hear a wet dry rig setup.. can't find a demo of that yet ✨

There are some nice tones in there. For me I use a tube amp with synergy modules. When I go silent I use a my amps with a torpedo live. Over the last 20yrs I have owned all the pricey modelers and di products and most are lovely... but for me almost any real tube amp is just better. Which probably means I am officially old :)

This is so cool, I’m definitely going to choose this over the Iridium. There is something so direct about the analog sound! I’m wondering if I get this, do I still need a reverb or overdrive pedal? Also how will it take an octave pedal like Boss OC5?

That's more than a lot in a box that small.

Did Don just say "Zero watt amp?" Know watt, no

This is like is less tweakable Positive Grid Bias Mini. I’ve used it for three years. I can save 16 different amps, and tweak every single part of the amp internally. Tons of cabs to choose from. The iridium, humbolt, torpedo, etc are all just simple chopped down versions of the Mini. And the Mini is 150 watts at 8 ohms.

Better then Strymon Iridium? Has anyone used (owned) both, and can offer user input?
