Windows Remote Connection to Ubuntu 22.04 Gnome Desktop

Ubuntu 22.04 Gnome Remote Desktop allow Ubuntu and Windows computers to play nicely with each other. While there are limitations, finally there is an easy way for a Windows computer to be a remote desktop client to an Ubuntu Gnome Desktop using the freeRDP version of Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol. Also included with this video is a brief comparison between Gnome Remote Desktop and XRDP. Unfortunately I neglected to mention that Gnome Remote Desktop may drop the connection when changing desktop settings, such as changing the display settings.

Everything looks as it should according to your video, but I cant manage to connect to my linux PC from my windows PC.
The two PC's are on the same network and they do see each other since I can ping the linux PC through cmd without issue.

Do you have any idea of how to solve this?

I realized I had to be logged off/on the login screen on my Ubuntu computer before trying to connect from my Windows PC

Great video out of curriosity does this work using ubuntu on a Oracle VM as well? I was trying this and it gave me a diff IP from 192 instead gave me an IP starting with 10. everytime I would try to connect it will fail. any idea?

I can only access the cli of my ubuntu machine (using wsl2). executing gnome-control-center did show me the x11 gui of the settings but it lagged and couldn't work with it. Can you give me the commands for the setup you made in the ubuntu setting?

Hi! When I check the stauts on ubuntu I get a "gnome-remote-de[4276]: failed to start RDP server: Error binding to adddres [::]3389: address already in use" VNC server starts fine but i also do have "failed to query number of modifies for format 875708993" twice and RDP initilization of cuda is successful.

I had an issue with the keyring becoming out of sync with my system login password.

removing the keyring with

rm

then setting a new one worked. Good luck to anyone else reading this someday
