Z490 LGA1200 (i7-10700k) The one option to kill your new CPU

Hello!
If you are an inexperienced overclocker or just starting, or have experience with 1150 - 1151v2,
please bare in mind that in BIOS 0403 and 0607 for ASUS Z490 GAMING F motherboard only by changing Cache frequency you'll have 200mV higher automatic Vcore (around 1.525V) which in fact is sufficient to run it a 5.3GHz and perform simple benchmarks but is demanding ultra good cooling.

Even if you simply put 43 as max -which is default - you'll end up with the same voltage that if you inserted 48 -51. So until this problem is resolved please use manual Vcore - core voltage settings or you can simply damage CPU.

Predictions... are fun.

I came here as a recommendation from the youtube algorithm.. haha I have tested it as well having an i9 12900k and I don't see any difference in the temperature. Things are the same. I think the issue has been solved since then. Happy new year man! :D

How i managed to bring my 10700 CPU under thermal control. Set everything to Auto. Put Vcore voltage to 1.150V. And thats it. The CPU never gets higher than 75 in stress tests and Boost clock doent drop from 4600mhz in Gaming at all.

Run it at 1.35v at 5.3ghz if you have a good chip it will work .. but make sure the LLC offset is set to 2 with level 5on overclock nothing more

Man, and I thought running at 1.35v was sketchy

At least thermal protection from INTEL works preaty good that at 1.52v dosent let burn the CPU, not even a hard showdown, only throttling...well....thats something positive I guess :)

lock the volts for vcore and lock for ring, im currently hunting down a ring voltage guide

The automatic voltages are always high that’s why you OC it yourself and not be a newb

Yeah seems like a bios issue, anyway not very common to let vcore on auto if you try to overclock your CPU.

Automatic Voltage put 1.62 V on my 10700k at 5.2Ghz So yh do never use automatic voltage !!!

I'm shocked how shocked you are, absolutely shocking. 😱
Did your CPU already got a meltdown?

It won't kill your cpu it has the ability to protect itself and will crash and reset itself I have the same cpu and im able to run it at 5.3ghz and have only crashed twice due to settings being on auto I have only changed the vcore ratio which I wont include the voltage settings in this comment as I don't want anyone to try it and have any issues and maximum cache ratio I changed to 43 and I have a very stable overclock at 5.3ghz which most people won't hit but trust me it won't kill the cpu it will reset to default and crash and reset the system and protect itself watch jayztwocents and gamers nexus as jay and Steve have covered this very topic
