I bought the 50lbs nuobells. But 80 is a must if you're looking for long term use and is serious about getting in shape.

My brother has a set of the Cores, and I while I loved the way they worked, I could immediately curl them at their max of 50lbs. I already had a good selection of traditional dumbbells, from 12 to 50 lbs, but there were gaps, and when I looked at the cost of each set of heavier dumbbells (you could easily spend $1000 just for sets of 55s through 80s), the value of the Nuobells became more apparent. If a 50lb max works for you, then the Cores make a lot of sense. However, if I'm going to get ONE set of adjustable dumbbells to replace my traditional dumbbells, then the Nuobells give me everything I already had, fill in the missing gaps, plus give me 60% more room to grow. I can even do heavy farmer's carries with the 80lbs. I ended up selling my traditional dumbbells, adjustable plates, and a dumbbell rack for 70% of the cost of my set of Nuobells, and I feel like I've gotten a more functional product in exchange.

Had these for about a year, they have a weakness in the handles, more specifically the plastic tracer between the metal that extends when changing loads, over time it smooths out making the dumbbell entirely useless, nüobell must be aware of this since their selling the handles separately, their price point is a big high, at least where i live, also the guarantee is only 1 year, so i can't recommend these, their great, dont get me wrong, but not made for longevity. I'm not really updated on price point for the competition, but when i did my review the general consensus was ironmaster and powerblocks are the best, sadly they dont sell them in norway. I lean more towards the powerblocks considering changing weight seems like less of a hassle, and they have a pretty great historical track record.

They do get easier to turn, with use. Mine were stiff at first, too. The reason they get easier is that the nylon "cam follower" button (inside the handle that actually moves the adjusting shaft in and out) wears down and gets smoother. Unfortunately, in time (hopefully years) that conversely will be what fails, and you'll have to replace the handle, as they aren't designed to be repaired. I love mine, and have accepted that fact because the dumbbells themselves are so great!

Wish they had these 15 years ago when I bought a full 3 tier DB rack with 5's to 85's. Back then the only option was nordic select tek 55 pound adjustable which was too light. These 80 lb nuobells would've been perfect and make moving between 3 different homes so much easier.

Great review! Based on the review of the Nuobells, it really seems like the 50 lb Core Home Fitness dumbbells would be more than enough for 75-80% of people considering their weight & price.

Really surprised by the Nuobell cradle being so plasticky, especially the clips which seem like they could easily break. The Core Home Fitness clips are metal, which seems like they probably are a critical part of helping them stay functional for a long time.

I bought them because I haven't lifted in 4 years and can still already curl 50lbs for multiple reps. I know I will quickly need more weight after only a few weeks so I just went for the 80s out of the gate. Expensive but hopefully worth it.

The 80s are so nice. I've had for 2 years and use them daily and love them

A minor con with the Core Fitness set was that they make some clanking noise when moved quickly.
Do these Nuobell's make the same clacking noise whej moved quickly during a set?

Great review!! One question, do they make as much noise as the core fitness??

As soon as i see you grabbed it with that bar with i immediately thought hyperbell won't fit.. same problem i have with JaxJox.

I think Nuobell is overcharging for these dumbells. It's still only 160 lbs of material. I think they could lower the price to maybe $100 higher than a fixed set of 80lb dumbells.

I'm so disappointed they don't fit with the hyperbell. Is it close enough to even try or just out of luck?

If i were to trim off a bit from the clamps do u think they would work ?

Great review man!! I’m still not a fan of the plastic but overall seem solid. Now I just saw that Pepin Dumbbells which is a Canadian company is making their own adjustable DBs and they are made with Canadian steel but the price point is much higher but built like a tank. So Nuobells might have competition other than BowFlex and PowerBlocks.

Regarding the hyperbell bar it seems it would be a good investment for jayflex to just sell compatible clamps separately. Since Nuobell style dumbbells are getting more popular hopefully they’ll put some out
