I needed to hear this podcast tonight. That pastor from Texas, who is now questioning what is literal even in the New Testament, is exactly me right now.

26:02 says it all. His advice is to rely on emotions, focus on only the best parts of the Bible, and do this repetitiously. As for the questions, just forget all of that. Essentially, he wants to simply wave the problems away and drive home the indoctrination. It must be true. It must be true. It must be true.

Coming from the other side, I can say that atheism feels like nothing much at all. You don’t instantly become evil. Your life goes on as normal. Eventually, you have to learn to let go of fear, guilt, and certain doom. Everything becomes so much clearer without people telling you what to think.

My pastor, of a rather large and growing church, tells of his pastor who encouraged him. The older pastor lamented that he was not more successful. If he had not escorted a young man to select a college and seminary, I would never discovered N.T.Wright et al

Desperation breeds desperate measures
Most will believe their private suffering means something to an entity that never speaks for itself

You can do something about "life" hurting. You can recover and heal.

Where's God, though, when you're someone like me who has an incurable autoimmune disease that causes 24/7 pain and misery? He's nowhere.

Regardless if a god exists or not it is evil for a god or for anyone else to force someone into the type of existence that they might hate to exist in and it's extremely abusive to force someone into the type of existence where they will suffer against their will or possibly suffer horribly against their will. To have a kid is like having sex with someone without getting their consent. The parents and god are like, I don't care if they like it or not, I'm going to force them into this extremely unfair and cruel existence anyway.

If a god exists then people need to be saved and forgiven by god for unfortunately being victims of existing and unfortunately being the flawed and fallible way that god created us, because the flawed and fallible way that god created us is our fault.

His pompous sounding voice, I wonder if it's his real sounding voice or if he's faking it in order to attempt to sound more important.

Um, no, don't try "praying" (saying "mantras", as that's all it will be) in time with your breath or any other New-Agey and mystical, magical BS. Truly unbelievable!
