Very comprehensive answer, including the bit about our eyes not picking up on all that violet. Wow, thank you.

I'm surprised u didn't take the opportunity to also say this is the same reason sunset sky in orange.

When the sun is at the low point the amount of atmosphere it shines trough increases dramatically. Also the light is bounced of the top of the sunset taking even longer to reach the eye.

Hence, the other end of the spectrum = yellow and red.

When I was a kid, I always thought the sky was acting like an old tv screen, and the blue was just a "glare" of sorts, coming from light bouncing back to the sky off the oceans, and the reason I always thought why only blue was being reflected back, was one, the earth is mostly blue to begin with, and two, the sky is so far away that the green from the land was being overpowered by all that blue. I guess i was wrong, but still not a bad theory for a 10 year old XD

Why is it that no matter how many videos I watch or articles I read which try to answer this question, I still can't answer it myself?

Q: Why are there so many humans who put religion above reason?

It is something that stems from human culture or is it something more biological?

The sky is blue due to the sunlight reflecting off of the heavenly waters above the firmament?... 🤔

why does it get orange during sunset/sunrise then? does it have to do with the tragectory of the light that's hitting the earth's atmosphere? are the rays reflected differently during that time?

My lab partner was trying to be cute, and got us to ask our college biology professor this question. I expected no answer, she expected to stump her, but she had a quite-legit sounding answer, and did so flawlessly, its cool. She said there were particles in the air that were blue (we knew why these were blue already). Then "why the ocean is blue" was asked..she flawlessly replied that it was because it was reflecting off the sky. She then followed it up with that the colors are so strong because the two are somewhat reflecting eachother so much to the point where the colors become so strong and "solid" as we perceive.

Coolest answer Ive ever heard. And.... from this video.. only reinforces that its right. Might not be as technical or exact, but its dang cool to think about.

If there was a room with all the walls, floor and ceiling being mirrors, and there was nothing inside, what would the mirrors look like?
