Eccentric Coq programmer wants to live in the matrix. I’m with it

I'm impressed by how quickly Lex clarifies what's going on after George says he learned coq.

First interview question : Tell us your experience, i know coq.

"something as complicated as the universe" but the simulation doesn't have to create something complicated, it only has to create the illusion of complexity in the subject (us).

This talk about living in a simulation reminds me of that TNG episode, 'Ship in a Bottle.' In the end, Professor Moriarty and his companion are tricked into believing that they are still in reality, but in fact, they were still in the simulation.  Picard's statement about them, "They will live their lives, and never know any difference."  I also like how Picard then muses that perhaps they too are in a simulation on someone else's desk.

One thing is for sure, the simulation that Professor Moriarty was in was completely closed off from the 'real world', with no way for him to 'escape' that simulation.  I suspect if we are living in a simulation, then we may be in a similar enclosed box physically closed off from the higher reality with no way of escaping.

The middle schooler in all of us was laughing when he said "I learned coq"

I hit the LIKE button after the first minute. What a brilliant answer to an opening question.

one of the ways out of the "simulation" is the inward journey

Thinking about the possibility of this sort of stuff makes me look at death in a different way.

If you are inside a simulation you cannot hack it. You are invested into it. Talking about breaking out of simulation makes no sense.
If it’s a simulation then the outside world surely will have a different nature and you’ll require a body suited for that world to live.
It’s like assuming Mario will become self aware and decides to break out of the gaming console.
It’s not possible. Not only Mario doesn’t look like us but he doesn’t even have a body to live outside the box. He’s digital
In a similar fashion we cannot even imagine what is outside the simulation
Just enjoy your life and hopefully you’ll wake up one day in the different reality and realise that you’ve been dreaming all this time or had a VR experience to learn things

Isn't moving to virtual reality just burrowing further down into the the simulation?

If the makers of the simulation don't want information going in and out and they want it hack proof, they'll simply have it detect when someone has hacked it (because, by definition, it knows what everyone is doing and what they're experiencing). It will stop the simulation, fix how it got hacked, and then resume the simulation. The "hack" would always fail.

Right when he said "coq" I had to read the comments and I'm not disappointed

Not religious but I grew up in India and it is funny how what he is talking about is basically the central theory of Hinduism that this universe is a simulation. And even if he thinks he is wrong he is basically talking about moksha and that principal giving us a meaning to life. Fascinating how given enough time different cultures and civilization's ideas can convergge.
