I am very proud of what Alex has done
I am surprised, however, that everyone is so shocked that he is so articulate, so grown up
He has spent the last 6 years with only adults for company, learned to speak French, had to work for a living
OF COURSE he talks like an adult, they are the only people he has spent time with, for 6 years!
Thank god he is back with his peers, now, and can live the 'normal' life, that he deserves 🕊️

my father had a similar childhood. He was 'traveling in Europe' with his mother from about age 9-13. But they werent really 'traveling'. His mother was having psychosis, thinking she had to flee. They were homeless and stayed in various dangerous situations. My father continued to read just as this young man did. And, similarly, my father went straight into school at his age-appropriate level once that was finally possible. Sadly, my father did not have a stable, sane, loving parent or grandparent. He had only his crazy mother and that hurt him terribly. Though Alex went through terrible trials he is very lucky to have his loving grandmother. Im not denying his ordeals, they were quite extraordinary, but to get through his trauma he has what he needs. And that is truly wonderful.

I think if the family doesn't want the mother prosecuted, the state should just drop the case so Alex can see his mother and grandfather again if he chooses. If Alex isn't traumatized by his experience, imprisoning his mom would certainly traumatize him and give him a lifetime of guilt he shouldn't have to deal with.

Here in uk this was on the news constantly and he also was telling us his story on tv programme s as well as in newspapers. He was so very brave but still absolutely loyal to his mom and has said despite everything, not being ideal. He was never cruelly treated by her and love her dearly, and just wants her not to be caught and punished by a police system.

The fact that the mother and grandfather's last name is Batty is so hilariously ironic... I'm glad Alex is ok now and can live his own life as he chooses, i'm proud of him

Just a correction there is no such thing as Morocco Spain, Morocco is a country in North Africa. Spain is a Country in South Western Europe. I know you know this but I'm one of those people, sorry I love your content.

I’m so glad we have a survivor case after the YT short I just seen. Did you see the case of Rudy Flores? Very disturbing survivor story that I’d love to see you cover. You’re a genuine gem yourself, Ms Brooke and you have a knack for storytelling and doing so with compassion. Have a wonderful Sunday. Love you and your content.

He is absolutely adorable. I have a feeling he is going to have a fantastic life because he has such a wonderful and positive attitude. My heart melted at how cute and humble he was when they were complimenting him. This young man is going to go far and do quite well in life.

The fact that he is so articulate and intelligent with empathy for his mother and grandfather shows what great caregivers they were. Maybe they went about it the wrong way, but they obviously loved him

12:55 how is being 14 and a construction worker NOT “being a slave to the system”?? De-Lu-Lu

*it says in the video that his mother took him away to live off the grid so as not to be a “slave to the system” so making a 14 year old work construction is pretty hypocritical imo…. If you had a good experience doing something similar that’s great for you! He ran away so much it was not going great for him. Glad Brooke understood what I was pointing out

She tells him he shouldnt be a computer engineer cause he'll be a slave to the system while she wants to join a religious commute? When religion is said to be one of the institutions used to also keep people in the system, his mom is just wild smh. She could've done all of this by herself and just left alex to his grandmother where he would have a stable household and life, which is what every child needs.

I think that through his experiences, he was well taught how to stand up against his circumstances, because of his mom and grandfather. They essentially set the example. I’m not negating the loss and trauma that him and his grandmother went through. I wish him and his beloved grandmother only the best. Time will tell.

You can believe uncommon/unpopular things and still be a very devoted and loving parent who puts their kid's welfare and healthy upbringing first. What a shame that this mother was unable to be a parent first to give her kid the best possible options and choices. Kudos for Alex's resiliency and wisdom for following his heart. What an unusual experience he's had with a fringe parent. Hope he gets the education he desires and is free to pursue his own life.

He is articulate because he didn’t grow up with peers, he grew up with adults… that is what home schooling is all about! Although he was not home schooled he did have practical living skills!

What a brave young man. I'm so happy for him and that he's reunited with his grandmother.

😅😢The moms belief system should not be a reason to keep mom and son apart. Glad he was given the opportunity to return. It was a hard choice for the Young Man ❤❤❤.

He was not "isolated", not locked up in a closet. He traveled, socialized with many different people and culturals, learned French.... it shows through his demeanor, articulation, intellegence. Everyone is shocked at this because they act like he was abused and kept in a dungeon. Im happy for him.
