I once lived on Big Basin Way in Boulder Creek. It's hard to imagine how any local guy with no serious injuries could find a gallon of water to drink every day but stay lost for 10 days. All you have to do is follow the water source - runoff leading to the Boulder Creek tributary which runs down through Big Basin State Park, running parallel to the main road, meeting the San Lorenzo River in the town of Boulder Creek. You'll run into many houses and cars before you get to the town.

10 days is a long time to be out in the wild with nothing. This guy is very lucky.

Never go out hiking without telling someone and never leave the trail.. He is blessed to have been rescued.

I wonder how this guy can look so messed up when he was hiking through some of the most temperate mountains in the world. I have never looked like that and I’ve spent a large portion of my life in the mountains all over this country. Santa Cruz are some of the nicest mountains. Perfect weather, fresh water, loads of food to forage, tons of shade, all around the perfect place to get lost hiking.
