I am already using this device, and the user experience has exceeded my expectations. It is completely a new consideration for switching stations.

I just purchased the Atem Mini Extreme ISO....which allows me to serve my clients quite well...but this...this weapon...will definitely be a truly work horse in my home office...no doubt with powerful even the first sight on it.

For the price i think having a ATEM Mini, OBS and Zoom Podtrack works best for my setup. If this could also replace your PC similar to how the yolobox can, I would very seriously consider this. For now though i have to live in the world of extremely affordable but nearly professional gear. luckily the competition offers this, nevertheless i do appreciate having this new piece of gear. good luck rode!

As a fan of the Blackmagic ATEM, I was initially a little sceptical, but I like this unit. The only thing I miss is the BM ATEM's ability not only to save the files from the live stream but also to generate project files that can be edited in DaVinci Resolve allowing you to tweak the live stream if necessary.

That 1080p only feature just killed that product

Knowing RODE being stil updating the CasterProII software even after a few years of release, I think 4K is still on the table for this. I might reconsider purchasing the atem mini for this with our multi-camera broadcasts

Great content! Your insights were enlightening, and I love how you break things down to make them accessible to everyone.

Some serious competition for the Atem Mini Pro... 🙌 BUT NO 4K??? Hmmm...

I currently use their Wireless Go II and Rodecaster Pro (with Shure SM7B/cloudlifter) and prior their smartLav+ and VideoMic Me. All stellar products. Price point is a touch high for me at least, as others mentioned I would like that 4K as Streamyard just enabled 4K streaming. I don't stream with my Sony a7IV though but I do screenshare from my Mac with is 4K which I believe Streamyard broadcasts out in 4K.

Awesome tool, exactly a great option for shortening post-time. Great video BTW, it's really well broke down man, congrats!

Atem is in away still good, but the extras here are so many... Especially on audio. 9:36 having to use 1 device for audio visual is a quick save for me. With Atem, I always have to use soundcards for better clarity and control, and doing mix minus here would be easier

Personally a hybrid Rodecaster Pro II and a a streamer X that can record to hardrive would be my speed.

This is a very good tool, but the ATEM is much better in many aspects, especially if you're working with Blackmagic cameras. Features like tally light, timecode, etc., are significant advantages. When it comes to audio, the Rode might be stronger, but the ATEM also provides all the essential capabilities. There are numerous pros for sticking with the ATEM, such as tally for cameras, handling and receiving audio inputs through HDMI, integration with a mixing console, and the ability to generate a DaVinci Resolve project from the recording. I definitely wouldn't replace the ATEM with this. Initially, I used a separate audio mixer with the ATEM, but I realized it was unnecessary. The ATEM's digital mixer is perfectly adequate, and the cameras send separate audio via HDMI, which can be isolated in post-production or mixed and processed live using the ATEM software interface. For an 8-input camera setup, for example, this means 16 separate audio tracks, which is a game-changer for me. I’m sticking with the ATEM, especially since you can choose models with either HDMI or SDI inputs, depending on your needs.

great vid -- ill wait for the next bm atem switcher which should have all the bells and whistles of their competitors

It wasn't highlighted as much, which I think is crazy, but it also auto-switches cameras based on who is talking. And not just looping camera angles like macros on the atem mini or random selections like YoloLive.

I'm not sure if it just takes a lot of processing power to do that in real time or not, but it really doesn't seem extremely complicated to have this as an out of the box feature for all video switchers. I had to hack it in OBS to do speaker-based live switching.

I really wanted to like this for our podcast studio because just one button press for a non-tech user to sit and record their podcast is such a killer feature. But 1080p isn't crispy enough for podcast clips, only 2 xlr inputs means i need adapters for usb-c audio (which is ok, but not preferred, ) and lack of physical controls just feels unintuitive to me. I wish they would've just slapped some HDMI ports on the back of the Rodecaster Pro II design.

Can you not set your cameras to 4k and have them convert to 1080p through the rodecaster video? That's an atem mini basic thing.... that's pretty rough.
