Mixing Engineer should also be concerned about big picture things! Mastering Engineer should be a set of trusted ears and final quality control for the project rather than any type of particular processing. In my experience, this type of thinking leads to “fix it in the master” mentality, which we don’t want in any part of the process. If people are making commercial music, they should be comparing to great sources from the beginning of the production. 🎉
