a few people have said that it is not ideal to have the turn table on the same piece of furniture as the speakers because the speakers can cause vibrations that impact the needle. i haven't had a problem with this at all but it might be because the i am not playing the speakers at a high volume or because this piece of furniture is pretty heavy duty and what little vibrations there are get absorbed by the rubber pads/feet on the turntable and speakers. thanks for the tip on this though and on proper speaker height!

If you are into Vinyl don't place the record player on the same structure as the speakers. The vibration will be bad for the sound. Looks really cool nonetheless!

Excellent! Ben, I worry about the the feet though.. doesn't the angle iron potentially scratch the floor where it's resting? Or does the 2x4 on the bottom shelf protrude just a bit to bring the angle iron up off the floor? Did I miss that in the video?

You shouldn't really put a turntable on the same shelf the speakers are on, because the vibrations could distort the sound. At least that's what vinylheads say. :) Really cool work if you ask me!

I just wonder if the extra 2x4s are needed. Can't you just screw directly into the 2x12s? After all, they only need support on the x horizontal direction, not in the z (depth) direction.
