Debunking the launch and niche misconceptions. Don't fall for these Etsy Myths!

Everyone always says to pick one product and niche but I actually decided to sell many different kinds of digital products in different niches and I’m really glad I did that because I wouldn’t have learned which products I actually enjoying creating and am best at designing.

Another one I think is also a myth is that you need to have 100+ listings. There’s many stores who only have a few products and are making 6 figures

True. None of the recently opened, successful shops I found are selling only one niche. They are selling one product type though.

I agree . When I analysed the stores that make huge amounts of sales, they are pretty much all “general stores” as Cassiy says. This is across multiple product types. ❤

Thank you Cassiy. You are dead on as usual. Most people will be coming to your store from a search for a specific item. So why do you need just one specific niche? I have found that I had to go more broad than specific...offering a few different niche items.

So I sell my watercolor originals and prints, but I have a lot of ideas for digital products and POD as well. Do you think it would work to have a digital section in my store?

I think the niche bit might come in handy when you are looking to get repeat buyers who go to a shop they know sells for example, "animal niche products". They say it is cheaper and faster to grow your shop with repeat customers than always looking for new ones. It would be cheaper marketing wise too. I think they both work.

I'm really nervous to do so though because I'm hearing about a lot of shops being shut down for weeks when they first add pod items. Do you have any insight into this? Thanks again!

👏👏👏👏 love it! So tired to hear :Niche down, niche down..I think that is something relatively new, I opened my etsy in 2016 and never hear that before. Why restricting your store to only one type of stuff!?

I wonder if you could answer a question, I just open my store and I'm posting one at a time as I go, but now being that it's almost the holidays would you recommend me to concentrate on those such as Halloween Thanksgiving than Christmas or should I mix in some of my own designs in my niche in between those? I guess I'm just trying to balance my postings as far as what's most important at this point in time.

What about running ads for a new shop? I have digital shop where I sell my designs and decided to go for pod mid September and I don't get enough traffic.
